Dog-friendly holiday home in Switzerland
Your dog will enjoy your holiday as much as you in this beautiful setting. There are plenty of holiday homes and holiday cottages in Switzerland so you and your dog can be as picky as you like when choosing your perfect holiday!
The great outdoors with your pet!
Dogs are welcome on nearly all hiking trails, because who doesn’t want to hike with their dog? So be ready for some amazing views! There are mountains, lakes and trails to explore in regions such as Fribourg, Valais and Swiss Plateau. However, make sure to keep an eye out for ‘keep your dog on a lead’ signs, because some trails require dogs to be on a lead. Also watch out for cows! Dogs and cows generally don’t mix well, especially if your dog is quite loud! Switzerland really has the best hiking opportunities for dogs, they have water fountains everywhere! These are normally taps with a trough for water, but this is sufficient for you and your pooch to keep you hydrated! Dogs are usually allowed off their lead until you are near a town centre.
Important things to note:
- Dog are permitted to travel on Swiss trains for free when they are in a carrier, otherwise they must travel with a lead and have their own ticket (half the price of an adult ticket).
- There are dog waste bags everywhere so there is no excuse not to pick up after your dog
- Watch out for cattle in the countryside
- Watch out for the llamas
- Dogs are allowed in restaurants and cafes most of the time, but the rule is you have to look at the door and see if there is a no-dogs sign
