The Isle of Lewis and harris is one of the small islands of the Western Isles, also known as the Outer Hebrides. It's main town is Stornoway, which is in the north. The north of the island is known as Lewis, while the south is known as Harris, hence the name. It's easy to see why this is such a popular tourist destination with such breathtaking natural beauty. The majestic landscapes on the coastal areas and beaches speak for themselves. Aside from that, an Isle of Harris and Lewis holiday home is just the thing for active people looking for a walking holiday. There are a couple of lighthouses dotted around the island which should definitely be visited. Lews Castle is a fascinating ancient building with impressive grounds. Other attractions worthy of visting include The Bleack House which gives you an insight into an otherwise elusive history and old way of life. Norse Mill and Kiln, as well as Callanish Standing Stones should also be on the itinerary.
When holidaying in an isle of Harris and Lewis accommodation, it's easy to be discouraged by the tumultuous weather, but that needn't be the case. Take suitable footwear and a raincoat and embrace the unpredictable weather as part of the charm of Scotland. On rainy days, isle of Lewis and Harris holiday homes will be a cosy retreat, particularly after a day of walking or other activities and you'll be able to put your feet up and drink some local Real Ale. On a culinary note, try also the Black Pudding, a regional and Scottish speciality which you won't get anywhere else (or at least it won't be as good anywhere else).
