Oban holiday cottages
Oban is one of the largest towns in Argyll & Bute, and is popular in the summer because there's so much to do. Booking a holiday cottage Oban is affordable, and it's great to have your own space to relax in after a day full of activities.
Oban's most famous landmark is McCaig's Tower, a Coloseum-like tower on a hill overlooking the town. There are many castles and fortresses in the area, such as the 13th century Dunstaffnage, which has an interesting history – it was even captured by the famous Robert Bruce. The War & Peace Museum, which covers the history and culture of the town, is also absolutely worth a visit. Oban's distillery runs regular tours, and even has a tasting bar!
Renting a holiday cottage Oban is a great way to experience Gaelic culture – come during the annual Highland Games, or Oban Provincial Mod, or the Highlands and Islands Music and Dance Festival. There are plenty of outdoor activities to do, from hiking and cycling to kayaking and sailing – two sports Oban is well known for – and even scuba diving. Pets are allowed in many Oban holiday cottages - dogs will love it for the great walks as well as the dog friendly Garavan beach.
Oban is known as The Gateway to the Islands – from there you can catch a boat to Mulll, Coll, Lismore and Colonsay in the Inner Hebrides, Barra and South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. If you take a trip out to one of them - maybe a day trip, or perhaps you should see our Isle of Mull holiday cottages – you'll notice the relaxing pace of life, closeness with nature, and many more stars in the night sky.
