The closest airport is Plymouth (9 miles) or Exeter (34 miles) and the nearest train station is Gunnislake (4 miles). You can easily walk around Tavistock but if you prefer a faster pace, then you can travel around by car and park in many places for free.
Things to do and discovering the history:
In the town, you can feed the resident ducks as you take a stroll along the canal through the park or take a swim in Meadowlands Swimming Pool. If you want some entertainment try The Wharf, which hosts its own live entertainment; music, theatre shows, arts. If you are chasing the sun, just an hour away you will find the impressive coast of North Cornwall, which boasts some of the most picturesque coastal walks and sea sides in the UK, as well as the famous Eden Project.

The biggest event is the annual Tavistock Goose Fair which has existed since 1116. Normally on the second Wednesday of October it takes most of the town for days, attracting crowds of tourists and local residents. Tavistock is also home to the richest Abbey in Devon since the 10th Century.
