Robin Hoods Bay holiday cottages
The beach's position at the bottom of a sharp cliff was advantageous for smuggling; rumour has it the houses in the village are connected by underground passages. Some of our Robin Hood's Bay holiday cottages could even once have been involved in smuggling. You can learn more about the Bay's history on the excellent ghost tour, as well as at the village museum. Each December, the village hosts a Victorian Weekend, and both locals and tourists can dress up in costume and enjoy Victorian style entertainment. The run up to Christmas can be a stressful time, so why not rent a Robin Hood's Bay holiday cottage to get away from it for a weekend. The Bay is one of the stops on the Cleveland Way coastal walk; following the path it's four miles to Ravenscar in the south, and six to Whitby in the north. The 110 mile route goes up the coast then down through the Moors all the way to Helmsley, for those who like a challenge.
