We were in England in January and unfortunately had quite a few problems with the weather. On a positive note, the language meant that communication was completely problem-free everywhere and there was no language barrier like in other cities. Anyone who is in London should definitely make a trip to Wembley Stadium and enjoy the lights there in the evening.

Highligts

Big Ben was beautiful. The London Eye and Wembley Stadium were also beautiful.

Hidden gems

A trip to BOXPARK in the evening. This is located right next to Wembley Stadium.

Destination recommendation

Incredibly nice people and lots of sights.

London was our favourite part of my two-week trip to England. There is simply so much to see there culturally and historically. As already mentioned, I find Buckingham Palace particularly fascinating. I also really enjoyed socialising with the people, as I generally like British culture. I mostly ate in smaller takeaways as I like to eat locally.

Highligts

I was particularly fascinated by Buckingham Palace for the simple reason that I am interested in history. I particularly like the architecture from this period. I was also fascinated by Stonehenge, as it has something mysterious about it and is really thought-provoking. Basically, I can recommend everyone to try the fish and chips in any place. VW

Hidden gems

A real insider tip is the Hook Norton Brewery, where you can book a two-hour tour that takes you through the entire history of the brewery. Afterwards we have the pleasure of tasting some beers

Destination recommendation

I would recommend England, as this country is really culturally diverse and is particularly characterised by a rich history

Pros

Good transport links

Many historical sites

Cons

The changeable weather

Relatively cost-intensive compared to travelling in the EU

My trip to England was super cool! London really has a lot to offer. Big Ben and Buckingham Palace were impressive, and Covent Garden was really cosy with the markets and street artists. The Camden Markets were also a hit - I found some really cool souvenirs there! I was really lucky with the food. I tried real British food in a pub and Borough Market was absolutely amazing. There were so many goodies! Getting around London was easy. The underground and the black taxis were great. I didn't expect it to be so convenient to get around. Next time I would perhaps be a bit careful not to fall into too expensive tourist traps. Sometimes tourists really do pay more. But apart from that, my trip to England was really great!

Firstly, we spent a few days in England. There we visited the typical sights such as Big Ben and the London Eye. On another day, we travelled to the Harry Potter Studios. You have to book extra tickets for this, but it's definitely worth it for Harry Potter fans. It is indescribable and you have to see it if you are a fan of this world. On the following days we travelled to Hastings. This town is beautiful, lies by the sea and has a lovely town centre. It's a great place to go shopping. There is also a mini golf course. It takes about half an hour to get from Hastings beach to Brighton, a slightly larger harbour town with a beautiful piazza like in a film.

Highligts

We really enjoyed our stay in London. We spent a few days there but also travelled outside to the beach and the Harry Potter Studios

Hidden gems

Definitely Hastings, it's close to Brighton but not quite as busy.

Destination recommendation

The destination is good for autumn or spring, as it is less crowded and you can enjoy indoor activities

Pros

Not very touristy outside the holiday periods

People in the area were very nice and helped us a lot and recommended many good restaurants

Cons

England is a very expensive region - you spend around €35-40 per person per meal in a restaurant

The individual towns in England look very, very poor and run-down. But the people are very friendly.

We were in London from 2 January to 4 January. The main reason for our trip was to attend the semi-finals and final of the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace. We stayed in an Airbnb in north London (near Tottenham). Public transport is excellent. You can get from A to B very quickly. I particularly liked Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge and, of course, Alexandra Palace. We ate at the "Market Halls" in Canary Wharf, but also at the "Duke of York" in Victoria or at the "Doner Daddy" in Wood Green. As it wasn't my first trip to London, I've already optimised most of it. I didn't have any problems and wouldn't do anything differently next time.

Highligts

Sightseeing in London. These included the city centre with Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. A particular highlight was Tower Bridge, which is a must-see when you are in London. The highlight was a visit to the World Darts Championships at Alexandra Palace in the Wood Green district.

Hidden gems

I can recommend one of the Flight Clubs as an insider tip for every darts fan. Whether in Victoria, Islington etc., these pubs are perfect for every darts fan. You can book dartboards there and play mini games with your mates.

Destination recommendation

Every darts fan should visit the World Cup at Allypally. The atmosphere is great and the people are very nice. During the day, London is a great place to spend time sightseeing.

Pros

Large variety of restaurants

Many events (WinterWonderland, DartsWM, ...)

Cons

London is sometimes very dirty.

Unfortunately it rained a lot

Holiday Cottages in England – immerse yourself in nature and culture

From the rolling hills of the Peak District to the mystery of Stone Henge to the hustle and bustle of Central London, holiday lettings in England are perfect for whatever kind of holiday you're after.

Revel in the culture of England's cities

Holiday lettings in England give you the opportunity to explore the cultural heritage and cultural diversity that this country has to offer. London is natural the perfect location for culture lovers, with its vast array of museums, architecture and theatres providing plenty of amazing cultural experiences. Though England may not have a particular reputation for its food, the diverse nature of London's population has made it a popular hotspot for foodies, whether you're after a quick bite at the Urban Food Fest in Shoreditch or if you're in search of a fine dining experience at a Michelin star restaurant.

If you're interested in visiting a historic and picturesque city, why not book a holiday rental in York? You can sense this city's vast heritage from the different styles in architecture – from its Roman city walls to its Georgian townhouses. Oxford is another city brimming with culture and intellect, being home to the oldest university in the English speaking world. If your holiday cottages in England are based here, be sure to take a stroll around the beautiful grounds of some of the University's colleges, walking where some of the world's greatest thinkers once did.

Enjoy a holiday by the English seaside

A holiday cottage near the sea will make you truly appreciate this magical island with a history of explorers and pirates. Combine culture with relaxation during your beach holiday in towns such as Scarborough, St. Ives, Lyme Regis or Penzance. Fans of great fresh seafood will enjoy a stay in Rock or Whitstable in Kent, which is well known for its oysters. The Isle of Man is a quaint island that is only a ferry ride away and is worth visiting for its many great museums and rugged landscapes.

Spend your English holiday in the South West

The South West of England has a lot to offer as holiday destination, with beautiful beaches in Cornwall perfect for surfing, as well as historic cities such as Bath, where you can still find traces of the Roman Empire. If you're planning on booking your holiday rental property for the summer months, you should definitely try to get tickets to Glastonbury, the largest greenfield festival in the world. Or, if you're looking for a slightly quieter holiday, why not experience life in the British countryside in the Wiltshire Cotswolds? Here you'll find a picturesque view of meadows as well as Cotswold Water Park, which is home to over 150 lakes – perfect for those interested in watersports. If you're really wanting to become one with nature, you should go on a camping trip in Devon and breathe in the fresh air of the South West. Or, if you fancy a change of scenery during your holiday in England, why not head to North Wales and go camping in the mountainous Snowdonia National Park?
