I love ducks and therefore also the city, the parks are full of ducks and other animals, the atmosphere is very relaxed and I would recommend the city to anyone. The range of restaurants is varied and definitely worth a visit, even if they are comparatively expensive. The Saluhalle in particular is highly recommended. Accommodation is actually cheaper than in Germany. The walk along the beach and the promenade are highly recommended. Copenhagen is also only a stone's throw away. All in all, Malmö is a very beautiful city and always worth a visit.

Highligts

I went to the Turning Torso, the beach, the old town centre and the pedestrian zone. I also went to the castle, some parks and the Triangle shopping centre. The walk along the beach with the pier is particularly beautiful. A very beautiful city.

Hidden gems

The beach with the pier and the parks with an incredible number of ducks.

Destination recommendation

Relaxed, laid-back, modern and traditional at the same time.

I was in Malmö in September and really enjoyed my stay there. I actually found the city to be a better alternative to Copenhagen, because everything is smaller and clearer here and not so crowded. And yet there is still plenty to discover. For a bit of city flair, you can go to the Turning Torso skyscraper. To be mobile, I can recommend cycling over all other means of transport. The costs don't have to get out of hand if you buy food from supermarkets and have a picnic in the park.

Highligts

My highlight was a walk along the coast to the Öresund Bridge. Cycling is also a lot of fun and safe, even for the inexperienced. The Turning Torso is also worth a visit.

Hidden gems

Perhaps not an insider tip, but rent a bike and explore the city. That way you can mingle with the locals without attracting attention.

Destination recommendation

Malmö is the relaxed alternative to Copenhagen in the immediate vicinity, less hectic, less stressful, less crowded

Pros

Direct connection to Copenhagen via the Öresund Bridge

Good cycling infrastructure

To discover Copenhagen and Skane (especially Malmö and Lund), it is worth travelling by public transport via Skanetrafiken. With the ticket, we were able to use the trains between Lund and Malmö and across the Öresund Bridge between Malmö and Copenhagen, as well as all buses, metros and ferries (the latter in Copenhagen). Copenhagen with the Little Mermaid, the Citadel and Nyhavn as well as Lund with its cathedral, medieval town centre and botanical gardens are well worth a visit. Malmö itself is somewhat lacking in attractions and sights - the city centre is quite nice, but not earth-shattering, and we wouldn't describe the castle as such. On the other hand, we really liked the openness of the people in the street of the Eurovision Song Contest. We ate out in Möllevangen, where there was a variety of Swedish and international restaurants. The open sandwiches in Möllan were fantastic! Next time, however, we would come back in the summer so that we could swim on the Baltic beaches of Malmö and Copenhagen and in the canals of Copenhagen - it was far too cold for that in May.

Highligts

In Malmö itself, we particularly liked the Eurovision Song Contest street and the beach at the Turning Torso tower block. From there we had a beautiful view of the Öresund Bridge. On the other side is Copenhagen, which is well worth a visit. In Sweden, the university city of Lund is only a quarter of an hour away by train and is well worth a visit. The Möllevangen neighbourhood is a great place to go out in Malmö.

Hidden gems

Lund may be a very small town, but it is also very beautiful. There are fantastic Swedish sandwiches in Möllevangen.

Destination recommendation

Three Scandinavian cities in the immediate vicinity, each with its own unique way of enjoying life.

Pros

Möllevangen nightlife district with many restaurants

Proximity to Copenhagen and Lund

Cons

Not many sights in the city

We were a group of friends and travelled here by car. You can't miss Malmö if you take the ferry to Denmark and then cross the Öresund Bridge. The city is located right next to the bridge. Malmö may be a big city, but it doesn't really seem that big. We quickly got an initial overview with e-scooters and got to know a few corners of the city. These included, for example, Zlatan Court in the centre of the residential district, the Turning Torso as a landmark and O'Leary's Bar. The next day, we went for an early jog along the seafront and were rewarded with a beautiful view of the Baltic Sea. The city as a whole is more relaxed and we were able to orientate ourselves and get around easily. We particularly enjoyed the beer in the pubs.

Highligts

Malmö is located in the south of Sweden and is therefore easy to reach even by car. The Turning Torso is a local architectural landmark. I particularly enjoyed visiting Zlatan's football pitch. Finally, jogging by the sea was another highlight.

Hidden gems

The number 3 bus offers a cheap city tour, alternatively e-scooters are available. Lots of nice pubs, especially O'Leary's near the Turning Gate

Destination recommendation

Malmö combines the old with the new and shows Sweden without having to travel very far.

Pros

Directly by the sea

Great promenade

Cons

Small town

Only interesting for a short time

Overall, Malmö is a small but very beautiful city where you can experience a lot, where you can eat well and where you can easily reach everything on foot or by bike. Travelling by train is very easy and convenient. The train station is centrally located and from there you can reach the city centre in no time. The BigSlap Festival is highly recommended, especially in summer, and there are good accommodation options that are inexpensive compared to other major cities.

Highligts

Beautiful little old town in Sweden, where you can visit and experience everything on foot. Malmö offers a lot of history, culture and music. At the same time, the city is very modern and many nationalities come together. There are many green spaces, parks and you can also reach the sea very quickly by public transport.

Hidden gems

In summer the Big Slap Festival and as accommodation are inexpensive and comfortable !

Destination recommendation

Cute and beautiful city where you can eat very well and visit everything without a car.

Pros

Location and accessibility by public transport

Restaurants and cafés

The Turning Torso is also a unique architectural development that Malmö is proud of. It is a neo-futurist residential skyscraper and the tallest building in Scandinavia and a must for any tourist visiting the area.
