My trip to Tenerife was an unforgettable adventure. From the majestic Teide to the endless beaches, I experienced the diversity of the island. In the winding streets of La Laguna, I felt the history, while Loro Park delighted young and old with its exotic wildlife.
The insider tips took me to the Anaga mountains, where I discovered authentic villages far away from the tourist hustle and bustle. The market in Santa Cruz revealed culinary treasures - a paradise for gourmets.
Local mobility was easy thanks to the well-developed bus network and car hire options. A highlight was dinner at "El Patio Canario" in La Orotava - traditional Canarian cuisine in a cosy atmosphere.
The only downside: if I were to travel again, I would book boat trips to the nearby islands well in advance so as not to miss the opportunity to go whale watching. Tenerife has captured my heart - a trip that I would recommend without reservation.
Highligts
Tenerife impressed me with its diverse landscape and breathtaking beaches. The visit to Teide National Park was an absolute highlight, especially the sunset from the summit of Mount Teide itself. The Loro Park offered pure relaxation, where I experienced fascinating animals and impressive shows. The old town of La Laguna exuded a charming historical flair.
Hidden gems
An insider tip was to visit the Anaga mountains in the north-east. Here I discovered picturesque villages and unspoilt nature trails. I can also recommend the Mercado de Nuestra Señora de Africa in Santa Cruz, where local delicacies and exotic fruits are on offer.
Destination recommendation
This holiday is perfect for couples of all ages who enjoy romantic sunsets on the beach and adventurous exploration. At the same time, Tenerife is an ideal destination for families who want to enjoy the mix of fun at Loro Park and cultural discoveries in La Laguna.

Tenerife was a very sporty holiday. It was very varied and I saw many beautiful places. My favourite places were Masca and Santa Cruz, where we ate very tasty pizzas, and Garcia Sanabria Park was beautiful. It's not always easy to get around Tenerife and if you really want to see something of the island, you really need a car, and the journeys take quite a long time because the island has lots of hills and the roads are sometimes very narrow. On my next trip, I would stay in a city that is in the centre, as it's easier to get everywhere and you don't have to drive all the way north.
Highligts
The Teide National Park was very beautiful, with fantastic views. Dolphin watching was also very nice and we saw lots of them. Playa de Benijo was a beautiful beach and a lovely backdrop for pictures. I can also recommend a surfing course in Tenerife to anyone and it's a fun experience.
Hidden gems
The Masca Valley is an insider tip, you have to drive a bit first but the journey is worth it. The Hotel Ritz Carlton Abama is also beautifully designed and has everything you need for a nice place to stay.
Destination recommendation
You can do a lot of activities, there are beautiful towns, beaches and hikes.
Pros
Many different landscapes
Many activities on offer
Cons
Very touristy in larger cities

There are many amusement parks worth visiting. The Die is the highest mountain in Spain and you should definitely climb it when you're on the island.

Tenerife is the second largest of the Canary Islands and has a lot of different things to offer. Whether you're a fan of beaches and the sea, the mountains or culinary delights, there's something for everyone here. The weather is very stable, although sometimes a little cloudy. It's not too hot in March and April and you can go on great hikes and excursions as well as swimming.
Highligts
The Teide National Park is the absolute highlight. You can relax on the beaches in the south. It is almost always warm and sunny. Great views of the cliffs.
Hidden gems
The Anaga mountains are fantastic. Garachico is a very relaxing place to enjoy a coffee.

I felt I had to escape the German winter and therefore decided to go on holiday to Tenerife in January. Looking back, I have to say that it was worth travelling at this time of year. Tenerife is extremely touristy in summer. This sometimes makes it difficult to relax. Even though the sea was still too cold to swim in, I enjoyed sitting by the water and admiring nature. I also took the time to look around the otherwise overcrowded old towns and was really impressed. I highly recommend trying the traditional cuisine. I particularly enjoyed the Teide National Park and the old town of La Laguna. I really only had positive experiences.
Highligts
People naturally associate Tenerife with beaches and the sea, and it was no different for me. I spent most of my time there. As my trip took place in January, the water temperatures meant that I spent more time by the sea than in it. Nevertheless, there are some activities you can do in January. One of my highlights was a hike through the Teide National Park. I also visited the really impressive old town of La Laguna.
Hidden gems
I can highly recommend visiting the otherwise touristy Tenerife outside of the high season, for example in January. It is also highly recommended to sample the local gastronomy and savour traditional dishes.
Destination recommendation
Tenerife is a wonderful place to escape the German winter routine, as the climate is pleasant even in January.

Cons

Explore and enjoy the island of Tenerife from your rural home
Come to Tenerife and enjoy numerous outdoor activities in the National Park of Las Cañadas del Teide, the Rural Park of Teno or the Rural Park of Anaga. Dive into the water of the Atlantic and practice water sports or relax on a beach. Climb the highest peak in Spain, El Teide. If you are curious about the history and culture of Tenerife, visit the cities of Santa Cruz, La Laguna or Garachico where you will find museums and architectural remains from the time of the conquerors of the Canary Islands.
Make Tenerife your next beach break
With Tenerife holiday homes in Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos you will find the most sizzling temperatures, exciting beaches, and a fun-filled nightlife. The beaches here have black or golden sand, crystal clear waters and blue flag awards for their cleanliness. During your stay in Tenerife villas you'll have plenty of fun surfing, jet skiing and snorkelling in the exquisite clear sea. Holiday rentals and Tenerife apartments in this area would provide an excellent selection on cabaret shows, restaurants, cocktail bars and clubs. This resort has a beautiful harbour and has still kept its charm of the small fishing village that it once was. You can go on fishing trips, glass bottom boats and cruises from the harbour to explore. Or if you want to keep the kids entertained, visit the aqua parks or even Tenerife Zoo during your stay in apartments in Tenerife.
Explore Tenerife's vast natural landscape
Tenerife holiday homes aren't just a great location for those in search of a beach holiday – this island also has a lot of offer in terms of natural wonders. Home to the highest mountain in Spain, Mount Teide, Teide National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and definitely worth visiting during your stay in a holiday rental property here. This natural landscape provides a stunning view of flowing lava, volcanic rock and beds of ash. You have two options as to how you want to take in and enjoy this beautiful view – you could take a cable car up to Mount Teide's summit, giving you amazing panoramic views of the entire landscape, or you could enjoy the view as you drive along Las Canadas, the single road that crosses the ten-mile wide crater that was formed millions of years ago. It's no wonder why this is the most visited national park in Europe.
Tenerife apartments – not just the sun and sand
If you're looking for a taste of culture during your stay in Tenerife villas, then head to Santa Cruz, the island's capital. The Iglesia de la Concepción is the main church in the city, dating as far back as the 16th century, whilst the Mercado de Nuestra Senora de Africa is a large food market worth going to if you'd like to sample the local cuisine. Or if you'd prefer a more historical setting for your villa, why not head north and visit the old town of La Laguna? This is the oldest city in the Canary Islands and holds World Heritage Site status for its colonial architecture and numerous religious buildings.
Art and culture on the island of Tenerife
The Tenerife Auditorium, designed by Santiago Calatrava, is located in the capital and has a varied agenda of theater, dance and concerts. In Santa Cruz and La Laguna are concentrated museums, theaters, exhibition halls and cinemas where you can quench your cultural thirst.
There are cities like Garachico with an interesting historical past to discover. The town of Garachico dates back to the end of the 15th century, as the first maritime gateway to the market with Europe, America and Africa, until a volcanic eruption in 1706 buried the old Garachico under lava.
Leisure offers in Tenerife
In the rural park of Anaga you can go hiking and visit places of great natural beauty such as the path of the senses located around the park's gate or the enchanted forest. When visiting the Teide National Park it is best to visit it at night, as you can enjoy one of the best panoramic views of a sky full of stars that lead to the highest peak in Europe, El Teide.
The carnival is one of the most popular festivals in Tenerife and is held in February and you can enjoy the murgas contest, the gala of the queen of Carnival and the best parades of comparsas and mascaritas. The day of the Canary Islands is celebrated on May 30 and is a party where you can learn about the Canarian culture, its gastronomy and typical dress to the sound of the best folias and parrandas.
Fiestas de Corpus Cristi
In Orotava every June is celebrated the feast of Corpus Cristi where huge floral carpets are made on the floor of the town recreating images of the bible.
Festivities of the Virgin of Candelaria
The festivities in honor of the Virgin of Candelaria are held in August in the village of the same name with a pilgrimage offering, military parade and the traditional meeting of the Guanches with the virgin.
