You can not miss visiting Barcelona if you enjoy good food, good weather and friendly locals. Barcelona is one of the more beautiful cities in Spain. It offers many activities from cultural visits, gastronomic experiences, parties...
I really recommend going on less touristic months. From April to June and from September to November are the best times to go in my opinion. I recommend visiting all the buildings by the architect Antoni Gaudi: La Pedrera, Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo...

My trip to Barcelona from 9 December to 12 December 2023 was a cool short city break. Barcelona is a city with many architectural masterpieces and great infrastructure. It is very culturally diverse and you can experience a lot. An absolute highlight is watching an FC Barcelona match or taking the harbour cable car. You can eat almost anywhere, there are thousands of options. The city is generally very expensive and crowded with tourists. Nevertheless, it is well worth seeing and the city can be easily explored by public transport.
Highligts
The first highlight was the FC Barcelona match. The second was a visit to the Opium Club. The third was a ride on the harbour cable car. And the last was the shopping street Las Ramblas.
Because the city really does have something for everyone.

Barcelona was a fascinating mix of lively culture, food and very different architecture. A city to experience, even for my little seven-year-old son it was very interesting, although city trips with him are not quite fun. All in all, most points in favour of Barcelona.
Highligts
The Sagrada Familia, La Rambla, the Gothic Quarter
Because it was breathtaking, we were in February 2023 and the weather was perfect, even in a T-shirt
Pros
La Rambla street is unique
Very full of life
Cons
Flight from Vienna was expensive
Many restaurants close and only open in the evening

I took a day trip to Barcelona. My first impression was not that spectacular, because the city is already a beautiful city, but not so much that I would say I absolutely have to go there again. However, the Sagrada Familia was extraordinary. The entrance fee is quite expensive, but it was more than worth it. An indescribably beautiful church and definitely an experience. Gaudi's works in Barcelona are generally worth seeing.

Barcelona really impressed me! The Sagrada Familia is amazing, so impressive and the atmosphere in GaudÃ's Park Güell was totally relaxed and colourful.
I was lucky with the food - tapas in a small bar were a hit. Patatas bravas and gambas al ajillo, really tasty! And a paella right on the beach was a highlight.
Getting around Barcelona was really easy. The metro was super practical and many places could be easily reached on foot.
On my next visit, I would probably try to avoid the mega-crowded tourist hotspots. La Rambla was cool, but quite crowded. But overall, Barcelona was an absolute highlight of my trip!
