Spain's Historical City of Avila
The City of Stones and Saints, Avila, is found in the Spanish county of Andalusia. It's a city easily recognised due to the unique structure of its surrounding wall which has a length of 2.5 kilometres and was erected in the 11th century. Currently, the city walls of Avila are the largest fully illuminated monument in the world. Understandably, the wall is a symbol of the city and tours along the top of the walls are available. In a holiday home Avila, you're never far from a place of interest as this city is jam-packed with history and breath-taking sites.
A diverse city full of surprises
Avila holiday homes make for great family holiday destinations, the locals are friendly and the milder, northern heat offers much relief from the sweltering, southern heat. Within the city walls you will also find many shops and restaurants to keep you occupied. Avila offers a very unique cuisine which can be found in multiple restaurants around the city. Oddly enough, the city also houses an Oriental art museum if you ever felt the need to experience the Orient while in your holiday rental Avila.
Don't feel restricted to inside the city walls
If you want to, you could always travel outside of the city walls and visit one of the many surrounding villages. Spain's capital city is also about an hour's drive away from our holiday rentals Avila. The Cogotas reservoir is also a pretty site which runs towards the city of Avila.
