I travelled to Bilbao on my own in January. Unfortunately, Bilbao is one of the rainiest places in Spain and I wasn't lucky and my trip was made considerably more difficult by constant rain. I would therefore perhaps recommend travelling in summer. The absolute highlight in Bilbao is of course the Guggenheim Museum, with its breathtaking architecture. But there is also plenty to discover beyond that. I really liked all the street art, for example. The airport is just outside the city and serves the entire region, but is easy to reach by bus from the city centre. Otherwise, I was able to get around everywhere on foot.
The absolute highlight in Bilbao is without question the Guggenheim Museum. Even if you don't want to go inside, the building by Frank Gehry alone is worth a visit. The market is housed in a nice building very close to the river, so you should stop by here in the morning. And the city also has a lot of nice street art to offer.
A free walking tour (often offered in Spanish due to the proximity to the border) can be very worthwhile. In winter, you might even be the only participant
Bilbao and northern Spain in general are an exciting and, compared to Andalusia, less touristy place, so there is a lot to discover!

I really enjoyed my stay in Bilbao. The highlight for me was definitely the visit to the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, I was very fascinated. Although I don't have a direct insider tip, I can only recommend visiting the Museum of Sacred Art and admiring the unique exhibition there. Bilbao offers plenty of sunshine and many beautiful streets. I would highly recommend Bilbao.

Bilbao is simply breathtaking. The weather, the locals, everything is just perfect. I can't really name a highlight as the whole holiday was a highlight. However, I would recommend visiting the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, a building with spectacular architecture I have already dined in some delicious restaurants, but I have to admit that the burger at Foodoo Restaurants completely exceeded my expectations.
