Take a walk around the Amsterdamse Bos, which is a great park great for having a picnic, taking a walk or even playing sports! If you prefer to use public transport on your holiday, then during the summer months it is possible to take a return trip from Amsterdam to Amstelveen with a historic tram (Electrische Museumtramlijn).
Amstelveen – a holiday on the river
Amstelveen evolved from its location on the Amstel River, which once played a vital role in connecting Amsterdam to the rest of the Netherlands. Amstelveen has since then developed into a lively city with plenty of options for recreation and entertainment. It’s also the second greenest city in the Netherlands! There is some very good shopping in Amstelveen. In fact, many of the locals from the other villages go there to do their shopping in the town, as it is thought to be the best in the area.
Travelling to your destination
Schiphol Airport it the most convenient in order to reach your destination. Although there is not a train station in Amstelveen, there are very good transport links with both the tram and the metro going to the town. There are also good bus links in and around the town.
