Brabant, also commonly known as North Brabant, is a province in the very south of the Netherlands. The rest of the Netherlands can be explored while using a Brabant holiday home as the starting point. The province also opens up the way to Belgium, with Antwerp and Limburg just south of the border. There are plenty of places ready to be discovered nearby, but there is also a lot to do in Brabant itself, so it's definitely worth getting a Brabant holiday cottage. The coast is also reachable here from the west of the province, where it is also linked to Zealand. The main city in Brabant is Eindhoven. As well as standard Dutch, Brabantian dialects are also widely spoken here. It is not uncommon to find people who speak fluent English, and in fact likely when dealing with people who work in the tourist industry.
Advice for thrill-seekers: stay in a North Brabant holiday letting
There is more than enough to do here, and there is something to meet everyone's tastes. For active people, this is the place for you and self-catering is the way to go for making the most of things independently. Aside from cycling, walking and a wealth of other outdoor activities available, The Efteling is not to be missed. This is the largest theme park in the Netherlands and will be an extremely fun and memorable day out. There are some thrilling and scary rides, but this theme park is child friendly, so appropriate for the whole family. For even more adrenaline-packed fun, the Skydive in Roosendaal is a unique experience. You'll also feel weightless when relaxing in a peaceful Brabant holiday home
For modern art, Museum de Pont in Tilburg comes highly recommended. For an entirely different museum experience, the War Museum in Overloon is very interesting. As well as telling the story of how southern Holland was freed from Germany in World War 2, there are a great many tanks and vehicles on display. This may be a humbling experience, and the message behind it is that freedom is not something to be taken for granted. For football fans staying in North Brabant holiday accommodation, visit Eindhoven's stadium as well as the PSV museum for some of the club's history.
Nature in Brabant
There are plenty of opportunities in Brabant for making the most of all that mother nature has to offer.
