Tuscany is a wonderful place to relax and escape from everyday life in Germany. I can highly recommend the area around Siena, with all its cypresses and vineyards, Tuscany is beautiful. I can highly recommend renting a country house on a hill. There are so many options, whether through Airbnb or booking.com, we stayed in a country house in Siena. We also did a wine tasting and cookery course there. It was great, we met lots of new people and also learnt how to make pasta. I can also highly recommend a bike tour in Tuscany. The cycle paths there are really well developed, you just need enough conditions. For me, the end of August and beginning of September is the best time to travel. It's not too hot and not too cold.
Highligts
The wine tour in Sienna and the cycle tour around Sienna were definitely highlights. The food there is great and there is something for every pizza and pasta lover.
Hidden gems
An insider tip is the accommodation La Torre El tolfe. It is beautiful there and invites you to relax.
Destination recommendation
I would 100% recommend Tuscany to anyone who needs a break.

We stayed at Le Esperidi campsite in Bibbona from 10 September to 20 September inclusive. The campsite is located under pine trees directly on the beach and therefore in the shade all day long. There are many excursions to the nature reserve from here, which are best done by bike or car. You can also cycle or walk directly through the pine forest to Cecina. The varied landscape between the beach and the mountains in the hinterland means that you can both relax and enjoy sporting activities.
Highligts
From Bibona, head towards Cecina through the pine forest, cycling along the longest avenue in Europe to Bolgheri
Hidden gems
Visit Bolgheri and drink wine
Destination recommendation

We were in Bibona near Cecina in Tuscany with a group of friends last September. The area promises a very varied landscape, where you can relax on the beach or go on great cycle tours through the nature reserve in the hinterland. We also visited Voltera, a really beautiful town with great shopping opportunities, but unfortunately full of tourists from midday onwards.

Tuscany is a wonderful holiday destination. We spent a wonderful summer holiday there. If you love food, wine and ambience, you will love Tuscany. You need a car or bike to get from village to village. There are great hotels & also Airbnbs. We will definitely come back, but then stay a little longer. You have to bear in mind the great distance from Germany.

Summer holiday! Great destination for nature, wine & food. Particularly suitable for active holidaymakers, including cycling!

When we arrived in Lucca, we parked outside the city walls, as there is only one pedestrian zone within the city anyway. The car parks are a little more expensive. You have to be aware of this. The car parks outside the city walls are about a 2-minute walk from the old town centre, so they are easily accessible on foot, even with children. In the other town there are many opportunities to try out restaurants. Tuscany offers a variety of restaurants, not only Italian ones. From Lucca you can also easily drive to the sea and take a day trip there. It is an ideal point from which to plan day trips.
Highligts
A beautiful old town with many restaurants and plenty of opportunities to soak up the sun.
Hidden gems
About 1 minute's walk from the city centre, there are nice little alleyways where there are not so many tourists. It is much quieter here.
Destination recommendation
The town is not quite as crowded as the rest of Tuscany, as it is an older town with a town centre surrounded by a castle wall.
Pros
Many nice shops and restaurants
Due to the thick castle walls, the city is not as heated as the others
Cons
It is becoming increasingly touristic
The car parks are a bit

Tuscany villas – experience Tuscan Italy
Tuscany is covered in an array of easily recognisable monuments such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Basilica di San Lorenzo. Many generations have left their mark on this historical province with a number of different monuments and works of art, just as this province has left its mark on history. Tuscany is the creator of high class thanks to its influence on fashion and its world famous, gourmet cuisine, sourced from local produce.
A province rich in culture and heritage
Some of the most world-renowned destinations in Italy are located around holiday rentals and Tuscany villas, such as Florence, the UNESCO World Heritage Site often referred to as the Athens of the Middle Ages due to its large role in medieval European history. Florence's historical centre still remains preserved and standing and has done for many centuries. Another historically astounding place worth a visit while staying in your Tuscany apartments or other holiday rental properties is the city of Pisa, known for it's leaning tower. This town is not short on elegance or culture either, attracting thousands of tourists daily to marvel at the astounding, architectural magnificence.
Discover nature from your Tuscany apartments
Tuscany's beauty doesn't all just stem from its monuments and architecture. Tuscany holiday rentals also offer a plethora of natural beauty thanks to its luscious, green landscapes that stretch for miles over mountains and hills making Tuscany apartments very popular amongst sightseers. Hiking trails through the Forato mountains near Massa are one of Tuscany's more unforgettable features thanks to the astounding views on offer from the peak and cliff edges. Tuscany accommodation is the perfect destination for those with an avid appreciation of nature and history.
Visit the medieval province of Siena
The beautiful province of Siena is also worth visiting to during your stay in a villa or holiday home in Tuscany, with its stunning architecture and an abundance of culture attracting tourists from all around the world. The capital of this province, also called Siena, holds UNESCO World Heritage Site status as a result of its medieval city centre and the preservation of its Gothic features. If you're looking for a lovely view of this historic city then head up the Torre del Mangia in Siena's main square, the Piazza del Campo.
Sit back and relax on the Tuscan coast
If a day at the beach is what you're after, then a visit to Livorno could be perfect for you. If you're booking Tuscany villas around this area you can relax along the coast and take a dip in the Mediterranean, whilst still retaining that traditional Italian city atmosphere. As a relatively rural region, Livorno offers plenty of opportunities to get active within its diverse landscape, whether you're after a hike, a cycle tour or just a quiet stroll in in the Tuscan countryside. With its combination of sandy beaches and cultural enrichment, a rental property in Livorno is a great idea for a holiday in with the family. Â
