During our holiday in South Tyrol, the small town of Merano was at the top of our list. It is smaller, quieter and more manageable than Bolzano, but you immediately notice a certain spa ambience from the last millennium with Austrian influence. As in Bolzano, you can take a cosy stroll under the trees here, whether it's raining or sunny. A highlight for us was the Pizzeria Moesl. The pizzas were really huge and, above all, really tasty.

Highligts

The wonderful gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are a particular highlight. Or the various high-altitude trails around Merano, such as the Merano High Mountain Trail or the Waalrunde.

Hidden gems

The thermal spa in Merano is the perfect insider tip for a relaxing end to the day. Sauna fans in particular will get their money's worth.
