South Tyrol is really beautiful, even in winter, when there are not necessarily many activities other than winter sports. The holiday destination may not be ideal for older people who are less able to move around. The nature itself and the surroundings in Trentino are truly breathtaking, especially the Dolomites. You can also quickly get to Lake Garda, where there are also many activities such as bike tours. The food there is really good. Especially if you also like German cuisine. There are no language barriers. All in all, I would go there again.

Highligts

The highlight was definitely the Dolomites, which can be reached very quickly by car. Lake Garda is also really beautiful, even if it's not the peak season in winter. There are lots of sporting activities, especially in winter when the ski season starts.

Hidden gems

All the pizzerias near the ski resorts are really fantastic. What's more, it's enough to drive around on the motorway and see the mountains.

Destination recommendation

Trentino is suitable for mobile people who enjoy sporting activities.

Review

Trentino-Alto Adige is a wonderful holiday destination and I can only warmly recommend it to everyone, as it offers a mix of culture, nature and sport and is a real treat for wellness fans in particular. It's a dream to stand at the Pragserwildsee lake early in the morning and see the mountains in the background or to go up the 3 Peaks early in the morning. However, it is advisable to book early, as both the accommodation and the guesthouses are booked out very quickly, especially in summer. It is also highly advisable to leave the car behind and head up the mountains either on foot or by bike.

Highligts

Hiking at the 3 Peaks, excursion to Lake Braies, cycling in the mountains, eating out in Merano

Hidden gems

Be sure to go directly to Pragserwildsee tomorrow. Or wait in the morning when the car park/pass to the 3 Peaks opens.

Destination recommendation

Because it is a unique natural spectacle.

Pros

Peace and quiet

Fantastic view

Cons

Many tourists in summer

Rising prices, especially for hotels

Trentino Alto Adige rental accommodation - a lovely Italian getaway

Nestled high in the Alps and surrounded by the Dolomites, just over the border from Eastern Tyrol and next to Cortina d'Ampezzo in Veneto, the Province of Trentino offers visitors a myriad of opportunities to get out and enjoy life. Book a Trentino holiday cottage in winter and choose from skiing (downhill and cross-country), ski-mountaineering, snowshoeing, ice skating, curling, and sledding. Another popular location for winter sports such as skiing is in neighbouring Austria, so look for rentals in the region of Tyrol. If you're more into mountain biking, canyoning, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, paragliding, hiking, climbing, or golfing, book a private holiday home in Trentino and travel here during the summer. Whichever season you choose to visit, you're sure to be blown away by the view from your cottage of the sublime Trentino mountains. UNESCO recently declared the mighty Dolomites as a part of natural heritage. These mountains loom high and provide some truly spectacular views, which will undoubtedly be one of the many unforgettable parts of your stay in one of the cottages or Trentino holiday homes available.

Trentino rentals - relax in a cosy Trentino holiday cottage and enjoy Italy

The many Trentino holiday homes and apartments here provide a great starting place for your adventure. If you've noticed that Trentino feels different from the rest of Italy, you're not alone. The region's history as a former Austro-Hungarian county means that Trentino has a very distinct culture of its own, perhaps more Austrian than Italian, with its Alpine chalets and quaint rental properties and cottages that look like they're from the set of The Sound Of Music, and the jangling of cowbells from the valleys below. So it's not surprising that Austria and Switzerland, with its popular ski resort Graubünden, are located right at the border. Nature lovers will rejoice in this area, as the region is ripe with things to see and places to visit. Trentino houses some of Italy's most beautiful mountain lakes, including the spectacular Lake Ledro and the Tovel Lake, the largest in Trentino. The northern banks of the much-fabled Lake Garda also border on Trentino.

Trentino holiday cottages - magnificent landscape and tourist sights

Start out from your chalet and hike over to Trentino's three glaciers, passing a number of waterfalls, canyons, caves and wildlife preserves, as well as castles, ancient ruins, and forts on your way. After all this excitement, you'll want to visit one of Trentino's thermal water spas to relax, or unwind in the comfort and privacy of your Trentino rental property, taking in the gorgeous Alpine sunset from the balcony of your holiday lettings. For an unforgettable stay in Trentino you'll need the perfect accommodation, which you can find among the many self catering chalets, cottages and other holiday lettings in Trentino available here.
