Agrigento, on the south coast of Sicily, is home to the island's most visited attraction - the incredible ruins of the Ancient Greek city of Akragas. When staying in a villa in Agrigento you have the amazing Valley of the Temples UNESCO World Heritage Site right outside your door. Akragas was at one time the fourth largest city in the world, so the extent of the ruins is quite extraordinary with the site covering 1300 hectares. The Eastern Zone is home to some of the best-preserved temples, like the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Hera, and, the Temple of Concord. The Museo Archeologico houses a collection of artefacts from the old city. Agrigento accommodation is simply fantastic for anyone with an interest in archaeology or Ancient Greece.
