Monterosso al Mare accommodation - holidaying in the Cinque Terre
Monterosso al Mare is the largest of the Cinque Terre villages, a group of five UNESCO World Heritage villages on the Italian Riviera on Italy's Ligurian coast which are particularly popular with tourists. A villa in Monterosso guarantees privacy and space, as well as being a very affordable option. The roads leading to the villages are less than convenient, and most visitors arrive by train - this means there are hardly any cars in the area.
Amazing leisure activities with Monterosso al Mare apartments
One of the most popular activities in the Cinque Terre region is coastal walking, and the route from Monterosso to Vernazza is particularly lovely. Monterosso has two lovely beaches - the largest in Cinque Terre - leading out into the clear turquoise water, where you can sunbathe on deck chairs and go swimming. The 13th century church of San Giovanni Battista, and the 17th century church of San Francesco, are both worth visiting; the views from San Francesco are stunning. The Cinque Terre region hosts many festivals throughout the year, and in May there is the Monterosso Sagra dei limoni, or lemon festival - that would be a great time to book a villa in Monterosso.
