Cervinia holiday apartments: Winter hotspot
Head to the Aosta Valley in the north-west of Italy, and stay in Cervinia, the alpine town set at the foot of the Matterhorn on the Swiss-Italian border, surrounded by incredible scenery. As one of the largest and highest ski regions in the Alps, the area is a great destination for a ski-holiday, offering an extensive ski area, a well-connected lift system and is open almost year-round on the glacier.
The resort is perfect for beginners and intermediate skiers, therefore making Cervinia accommodation an ideal stay for families. For those who are more experienced, skiers can cross to Switzerland by lift and try the pistes in Zermatt, which offer steeper and more difficult slopes. Cervinia offers a terrain park and a ski-school, as well as a popular 11km run that descends directly down to the resort. Due to its close proximity to the border and its location in the Alps, it's possible to visit other resorts for the day; lift passes to other areas that can be reached from Cervinia by car include La Thuile and Champoluc. With influences from France, Switzerland and Italy, try as many local restaurants, bars and snow-huts as you can, as well as joining in the lively après-ski atmosphere after a long day on the slopes.
