Teramo is a province in the Italian region of Abruzzo. Its eastern side lies on the Adriatic coast while the west is bordered by the mountains of the Apennines. In between lie olive groves, vineyards and rolling hills and valleys. This diversity of landscape is contained in a small area and travelling from the coast to the mountains can take less than an hour from Teramo accommodation.
Hikers, cyclists, horse-riders and nature-lovers can enjoy the great outdoors in this sparsely-populated, unspoiled region. There is beautiful mountain scenery, with waterfalls, gorges, woods and even a glacier, the Calderone; the most southerly in Europe. Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park is Europe's largest protected area and is home to many threatened animals and plants. There are several ski resorts in the north where Teramo accommodation can be found in the mountains.
There are many charming and historic places offering holiday rentals in Teramo, including the main town of Teramo itself. This has a spectacular Roman Amphitheatre along with museums, palaces and a magnificent cathedral. The region is famous for its food and wines, and local produce can be sampled in the hillside villages, which are also ideal places to stay in Teramo accommodation.
Teramo's coastline has seven seaside resorts, the Sette Sorelle or 'seven sisters,' which have promenades and blue-flag beaches with excellent facilities for visitors. The long beaches are covered in fine silver sand and have shallow shores, making them ideal for family days out in Italy. The seaside towns of Tortoreto, Silvi and Roseto have some of the largest selection of hotels and holiday rentals in Teramo.
