As the Irish capital, Dublin has a lot to offer. You can take the train to the cliffs of Howth and enjoy the fresh sea air or visit one of the many traditional whiskey distilleries. The food has a British flavour and is unfortunately often rather unhealthy. In the countless pubs you can enjoy a variety of local beers and listen to the live music on offer in the evenings. Unfortunately, Dublin is not a very clean city and the cityscape reflects its industrial character. Nevertheless, it is well worth a visit.

The 3-day trip to Dublin was impressive! Unfortunately, the bad weather accompanied us as we explored. On the first day we visited Dublin Castle and enjoyed local food in a cosy pub near the North Cemetery. The Temple Bar neighbourhood was our meeting point for the evening each day. The imposing St Patrick's Cathedral was a major highlight of the trip. Overall, it was an unforgettable trip full of culture and nice people.

Highligts

The pubs are the absolute highlight of the city. The live music is particularly noteworthy. St Stephens Green is a great place to relax. Visiting the Convention Centre was also a lot of fun.

Hidden gems

The Gravedigger pub in the north of the city serves great food. Pub crawls on Friday and Saturday evenings can be booked and are highly recommended.

Destination recommendation

Irish welcome culture and party feeling are the perfect reason for me to visit Dublin.

Live music

Cons

The centre of Dublin around the Temple Bar area is highly recommended and always worth a visit. There are many bars here with tourists from all over the world. The bars are always full and music is played in every bar. Often live music too. Everything in Dublin is within easy walking distance. Unfortunately, it's not cheap in the city. Both food and drinks are more expensive than average.

Highligts

Temple bar. Pub crawl. Old town in Dublin. River in Dublin

The temple bar is highly recommended. The beer is great!

I think Dublin is definitely worth a trip. You gain a lot of impressions there and learn English. I never felt uncomfortable there. I really liked the tiny hidden beach on Howth and the General Post Office, as you get an insight into the nature and history of Dublin. I ate in small restaurants. It's very easy to get around on foot or by public transport. I wouldn't avoid anything, it was all very nice.

I spent 3 days in Dublin with my girlfriend in February. I have to say that we didn't really like the city compared to the hype surrounding it. The weather was typically rainy Irish, maybe it's more pleasant in summer. One negative thing we noticed was that everything is incredibly expensive. The opening hours (especially of museums) are also quite short, which surprised us for a European capital. Next time we would perhaps concentrate more on the hinterland and keep the visit to Dublin short.

Highligts

One highlight was a trip to Howth. Here you can get a taste of the Irish countryside half an hour from the city centre. We also enjoyed a visit to the National Gallery of Ireland. I personally also liked the Chester Beatty.

Hidden gems

If you want to visit many sites, we recommend the Heritage Card, especially for students. This offers unlimited entry to all attractions managed by the Office for Public Works for one year.

Destination recommendation

In Dublin, you can get a taste of the Irish way of life without having to get involved too much straight away

Pros

Cheap Guinness

Cons

Everything closes early

Absurdly high hotel prices

Casamundo offer a vast number of holiday homes ranging from modern accommodations to contemporary holiday apartments in the heart of the city or cosy holiday rentals in the outskirts of the city, you will be spoilt for choice.

The Dublin Castle is a brilliant building to visit and there are many tours conducted here daily, although today it stands as a major Irish government complex. With grand furniture and grand décor, it truly is a beautiful gem in the city! Afterwards, why not visit one of the many museums and galleries found in the city. The National Museum of Ireland is a great place to visit during your city breaks to Ireland as it is the premier institution of art and history.

With some of the finest collections of Irish history and culture on display here, you will be immediately engaged and inspired by the pieces here. For science fans, head to the Science Gallery found on Pearse Street. With its interactive exhibitions, many in the form of games, it is a great family-friendly day out and suitable for young adults as well! The Gravity Bar is another highlight of this beautiful city as here you can get panoramic views of this fantastic city! Spend a long afternoon in the fantastic Phoenix Park in the heart of Dublin. Found west in the city, you can find a zoo and a racecourse here! On a sunny, warm day here, sit outside with a picnic and enjoy the beautiful scenery that this park boasts

Why not visit a traditional Irish pub and sample some of the local cuisine, beers and ciders available? Wash your Irish stew down with a pint of Guinness or Irish cider and you will feel completely at ease in this wonderful metropolis. For those wanting to learn about the history of one of the most famous beers in the world, head to the Guinness Storehouse. Learn how the beer is brewed and explore all seven floors of this global brand! This fantastic hotspot pays tribute to one of the most famous beers in the world and the old grain house is the only part of the 26-hectare Saint James' Gate Brewery that is open and available for the public to have a peek around. If you are after lively nightlife, there are plenty of bars and nightclubs throughout the city so you can party till the early hours! The atmosphere here is electric, no wonder Dublin is a popular getaway for New Years, and even more so at this time of the year!

A perfect city break and a beach holiday

As the city is close to the coast, it is also a great city break for those who enjoy beach holidays as well. The coastline here in Dublin is breath-taking so make sure you save some time to explore it here! The Dublin Bay offers endless stretches of beaches here and make sure you head to the Three Rock Mountain where you will be welcomed with great views across the whole city! If you head down to Dollymount Stand, on a clear day, you might even be able to see Holyhead in Wales as these cities both overlook each other across the Irish Sea.

The Balcarrick Beach in Rush and Claremont Beach in Sandymount are two of the most popular amongst residents and visitors alike and with the mild temperatures all year round, they are wonderful to spend the day out on! The beaches in Cornwall and Devon are almost rivals to those here, but the excitement of this Irish city makes this city break an all-round, once in a lifetime trip!
