The travelling experience in general was very nice. I like the city centre best, as there is so much to do there. There are very good restaurants with different cuisines, Gigi's is highly recommended for Italian food. Public transport is very well developed and you can get around quickly and easily. On your next trip, I would be careful not to walk around alone in small alleyways, as you don't feel so comfortable there. I would also be careful in the vintage shops as they are always very overpriced.

Highligts

There is a very nice city centre. You can drive a little out of town and see some very beautiful sights, for example in Ammersee. A highlight is also the Oktoberfest, where you can have a lot of fun.

Hidden gems

The best way to get around is by underground

The destination is highly recommended

Pros

There are very nice people who are very open

For me, it is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany, the interplay of Bavarian culture and modernity makes this city something really special. I went to many different restaurants, such as the "Tambosi" or the "Les Deux", which were very good. As I am a car enthusiast, I naturally visited Motorworld and the BMW Museum, which were an absolute highlight for me. If you want to visit Germany, this city is an absolute must.

Highligts

We visited Marienplatz, the Frauenkirche and the Olympic Park

Hidden gems

Anyone interested in cars should definitely visit Motorworld

Destination recommendation

Definitely, because the city simply has so much to offer

I went to a concert here. It was really great. I stopped by a cute little Christmas market near the Zenith and ate a delicious crêpe there. In the morning we went to a café and had breakfast there. I really can't complain about the price. I travelled to Munich by car and realised that there is a lot of congestion in this city. Next time I would travel by train. The following day we went to the zoo. I can really recommend this and the Christmas market! You can walk everywhere, but it's still advisable to take a taxi. There's a taxi rank on every corner and it's not as expensive as I thought.

Highligts

You can visit the FC Bayern stadium. The zoo is also recommended, as is the German Museum. You can enjoy a delicious meal at the Hofbräuhaus. The Bavaria film studios are also really interesting.

Hidden gems

Small, sweet Christmas market near the Zenith. FC Bayern world of experience

Destination recommendation

Yes definitely, always worth a trip.

Pros

Has quiet corners (really good for a big city)

Taxi ranks on every corner

Cons

Lots of traffic jams

Hotels far too expensive

We were on a short trip to Munich on the weekend of 4 October, where we went on a hike along the Isar. This led from the Tiergarten in the direction of Waldwirtschaft, or WAWI for short, along the Isar. The paths along the Isar are really well developed and also accessible for pushchairs. There are numerous places to stop for refreshments along the way, both in the city centre and just outside. We recommend visiting the zoo in the morning and then walking along the Isar in the afternoon. The earlier you get to the Waldwirtschaft, the more likely you are to get a seat

Highligts

Walk along the Isar from the Tiergarten in the direction of Waldwirtschaft (wawi)

Hidden gems

We visited the zoo in the early morning and then went to the WAWI

Destination recommendation

Very beautiful landscape and refreshment stops

Pros

Well-developed paths

Landscape and city centre close together

A bit too many people

The architectural beauty of the old town, especially Marienplatz with the new town hall and St Mary's Column, is breathtaking. Munich is such a beautiful city that I would visit it again and again. There is always something to do, whether young or old. The people were also all very friendly and nice. I can only recommend a visit to Munich, as there are lots of great things to do and you always have fun.

Stay in Munich and discover Bavaria, the cornerstone of South Germany

Located in the south of Germany in the Bundesland of Bavaria, Munich has a lot of culture to experience, everything from the local cuisine such as white sausage and pretzels, to the beer and as it is the third biggest city after Berlin and Hamburg, you won’t run out of things to see and do quickly! After all, one of the world's favourite and famous beer festivals, Oktoberfest, takes place in Munich every year from late September till mid October. This beer festival is well worth a visit, since it attracts millions of tourists every year. Whilst staying in your holiday home in Munich, try the different types of beer such as Augustiner and Paulaner. If you book a Munich holiday apartment when Oktoberfest isn't on but still wish to sample the German beer, the Hofbräuhaus in the city centre is one of the most famous beer drinking houses in Munich with a live music band.

Stay in a holiday home in Munich and explore the heart of Bavaria

Whilst staying in your Munich holiday apartment, if you are wanting to explore, there are plenty of museums to visit, such as the Deutsches Museum or the BMW museum, or why not take a stroll around the city centre and look around the shops. The Englischer Garten is well worth a visit in Summer, a great place to have a picnic. Among the landmarks of Münich include the imposing Marienplatz, the 18th century Nyphenburg Palace which combines a mixture of baroque and neoclassical features and last but not least, Neuschwanstein Castle which has become an icon not just of the region but of Germany.

The northern city of Hannover is also a central hub for great shops and a relaxing city break. If you prefer some countryside and landscape after your city stay, then why not look at cottages in the Black Forest for some wonderful German scenery or maybe visit Rhineland-Palatinate and check out some of the local vineyards here that envy those in Bordeaux.
