Düsseldorf is a very lively city. It's a great place to go shopping, but don't expect a lonely city, as there's a lot going on at the weekend. The Rhine promenade is a great place to take some nice pictures, especially at sunset. There are lots of e-scooters that you can use to get around Düsseldorf. There's always something going on at Burgplatz in Düsseldorf

Highligts

The Rhine funfair is highly recommended. You can also go for a nice walk along the Rhine promenade. Düsseldorf is beautifully situated on the Rhine. The Rhine funfair is highly recommended. You can also go for a nice walk along the Rhine promenade.

We spent a short trip in Düsseldorf. My wife came across the van der Valk Airport Hotel. We had a room there with a great view, a whirlpool in front of the window and a spa shower. Absolutely perfect for relaxing. At the same time as we were travelling, there was a funfair on the Rhine, which we visited. We recommend the Königsallee for shopping. Even if you don't have the necessary change, you have to have been here once. The parking fees are very high and the car parks are sometimes very narrow. We also note a Turkish restaurant in the centre, which offered a great breakfast buffet.

Highligts

Beautiful old town. Upscale shopping opportunities on the Kö. But good sightseeing is also possible

Hidden gems

The Van der Valk Hotel at the airport with its own spa rooms.

Destination recommendation

Very nice city for a short trip

My boyfriend and I regularly travel to Düsseldorf. Even if it's just for one night. We made our first little trip there at the beginning of our relationship and since then the city has simply had a special meaning for us. We go to Königsallee every time, which is always great for us. The beautiful shops and cafés on one side of the street and the water with the avenue on the other simply have something very special about them. Shopping in Düsseldorf is simply fun. There are lots of nice hotels there. Restaurants like ALEX and PeterPane are delicious. And the EscapeRoom was also a lot of fun. When we were there once in the summer, we also did a hop-on hop-off tour by bus & that was also highly recommended (we started directly from Königsallee and visited an aquarium, among other things)

Highligts

Königsallee is always a highlight for me and my partner. Last time we visited an escape room in Düsseldorf - that was great fun.

Hidden gems

The Escaperoom is definitely worth a try. So is a visit to Königsallee. The "ALEX" restaurant is nearby. Highly recommended!

Destination recommendation

Düsseldorf simply has charm.

Pros

Great shops

Nice bars

In my opinion, every culture fan must experience Düsseldorf at least once in their life. The highlight for me was definitely the Kunstpalast. Here you can enjoy a phenomenal exhibition for a very fair entrance fee. I don't have a direct insider tip, but I do recommend visiting the Japanese garden, which offers an incredibly relaxing atmosphere. There are plenty of inviting places to eat and drink in Düsseldorf.

Highligts

The Kunst is a museum with a unique aura. The entrance fees are very fair.

Hidden gems

Culture and action meet in the so-called Japanese garden.

Destination recommendation

There are attractions for both children and adults

Pros

Japanese garden

Cons

No negative properties

I was particularly impressed by the Rhine riverside promenade in Düsseldorf, with a facet of the city that I didn't know and didn't expect. The viewing platform on the Rhine Tower is also something that everyone who has been to Düsseldorf must have done at least once; you have a wonderful view over the Rhine area and the city. I can also highly recommend the Media Harbour with its modern architecture and many bars and cafés, as well as the Old Town with its famous Düsseldorf pubs and iconic Altbier. If you travel a little further afield, Benrath Palace with its impressive gardens is also a really great tourist destination. The trams, underground and buses are a great way to get around Düsseldorf and you don't need a car. Düsseldorf is also in the middle class in terms of prices and is by no means an overpriced city

Highligts

For all shopping fans like me, the Königsallee is definitely an absolute highlight in Düsseldorf

Hidden gems

An insider tip that is often visited by locals is the Media Harbour with its many small bars and restaurants and extremely modern buildings

Destination recommendation

With its Rhine surroundings, Düsseldorf is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in North Rhine-Westphalia and therefore well worth a visit

Pros

The Rhine

Shopping opportunities

Cons

The further you get away from the city centre, the quicker you reach unsightly areas

Visit the Northern German city of Düsseldorf

The city of Düsseldorf is tucked away in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and has something to offer every visitor that plans a trip here in the Düsseldorf accommodation available. With a population of 600,000, this densely populated city attracts approximately 2 million visitors a year. This is partially down to the city having a booming economy, with many visitors here on business, but of course, many tourists who want to see this exquisite German city. If you like to explore on your own, then why not take a cultural city walk and explore the world class Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, which is over 120 years old but still offers traditional and modern contemporary art. On this tour you should definitely take a trip to the Museum Kunstpalast, which is well known for its take on classical modernity and extremely intriguing contemporary art.

Find your perfect Düsseldorf accommodation - A Summer or Winter holiday is great here

During the summer months, there is a relatively hot climate here so what better way to enjoy this great weather than having a picnic by the river Rhine, which runs through the city of Düsseldorf. Perhaps spend the day with your family or friends in the Nordpark, which has many Japanese Gardens, or the Hofgarten, which also contains the beautiful palace of Schloss Jägerhof. The nearby city of Duisburg also has many great parks to visit if you fancy a day trip somewhere else whilst in Düsseldorf. For those in favour of shopping on their holiday, Königsallee is a hotspot for shopping and has many exclusive shops well worth visiting. After a day of hitting the shops, why not stroll to the Carlstadt and check out the antique shops and markets, something that make this beautiful city unique.

If you decide to plan a stay in a Düsseldorf holiday apartment during the winter months, you get to enjoy the beautiful and very unique German Christmas markets. Sample the sausage, mulled wine, roasted almonds and the other food treats availble here whilst soaking up the wonderful atmosphere these markets create. There are many stalls which sell everything from jewellery to niche ornaments; so why not treat yourself to something so you remember your stay in a Düsseldorf holiday home.

Make the most of your stay in a Düsseldorf holiday home

If you fancy travelling around or exploring more of Germany whilst staying here, you are in luck as there are many large nearby cities which are easily accessible with public transport. The city of Bonn is great during the summer months, as is Cologne with its diverse range of districts, Dortmund and it's popular Christmas Markets and of course the student city of Münster is well worth visiting. Wherever you decide, have a great holiday and plan in advance where and what you want to see.
