We went on holiday to the Eifel with our family of four. It was our first trip to the Eifel and we have to say that we will definitely do it again. On our first day, we went to an adventure pool and spent the evening relaxing. On our second day, we went to the Daun Wildlife Park. We can only recommend this wildlife park to anyone. It is situated on a mountain and therefore has a great view. You drive through most of the park by car. However, you can walk through one of the monkey enclosures. The monkeys roam free there. At the end of the park there is a large playground for the children. On the third day we went to Cochem. A must for anyone travelling in the Eifel. We visited the town and of course the Reichsburg castle. You can also go out for a good meal in Cochem, but you should definitely read the reviews online beforehand. Cochem is easy to get to by car and there is plenty of parking available. On the fourth day we visited the Moselle and went for a great walk. Highly recommended in good weather.

Highligts

The highlights of the trip were definitely the Reichsburg in Cochem, the Daun Wildlife Park and, of course, the Moselle itself. It is a marvellous region.

Hidden gems

The wildlife park in Daun is well worth a visit

Destination recommendation

I would recommend the Eifel because of the fantastic landscape.

Pros

Great landscape

Lots to experience

Cons

Some restaurants are unfortunately completely overpriced

The Eifel is a beautiful place full of nature and mountains. It is very suitable for families with children, as there are lots of sights and attractions that you can do together as a family. Getting around is very well organised, there are regular buses and the roads are fine. The food is actually good, you just need to find out where exactly you are going beforehand.

Highligts

The Reichsburg castle in Cochem and the Moselle are well worth a visit. Everything there is very natural and just right for people who are interested in historical information. The animal park in Daun is also very beautiful and a great place to spend your free time, especially with children.

Hidden gems

From the Reichsburg in Cochem, you have a beautiful view over the countryside. You can also visit the second floor of the castle in summer only.

Destination recommendation

Because of the carefree and beautiful nature

Pros

Natural

Interesting

Cons

Narrow and winding roads

Not so many supermarkets

I have lived in the Eifel all my life and can only recommend a trip to this beautiful region of the Eifel to everyone. Whether in the beautiful southern Eifel or in the north. The Eifel impresses nature lovers with its beautiful lakes and mountains. A particularly beautiful destination is Monschau or the Rursee. You can go boating there in summer or just relax and unwind. The only problem is the availability of public transport. You should eat at the Haller restaurant in Monschau. But it's best to book in advance, otherwise you won't have a chance. It tends to be busier in summer than in the off-season.

Highligts

The Eifel is a breathtaking place that has been with me my whole life. Beautiful lakes, great rivers and breathtaking landscapes.

Hidden gems

An insider tip is the island of love in Lake Rursee, which can only be reached by boat.

Destination recommendation

Because I live in the Eifel myself and can only recommend it! Every time I come home I think that I live where others go on holiday

Pros

Beautiful landscapes

Great restaurants

Cons

Poor bus and train connections

I regularly ride my motorbike to the Eifel when the weather is nice. In my opinion, there is no more beautiful route than around the Rursee. When the weather is nice, it's great fun to ride round the bends with friends and enjoy the scenery. In the evening, we like to ride to the Biker Ranch and review the evening there. Unfortunately, there are also a lot of cars driving to the Rursee in the Eifel, some of which slow you down or even cut you off. Every weekend in the Eifel is a successful weekend!

A wonderful weekend in the countryside, we definitely want to see more of the Eifel. Eltz Castle and Cochem Castle were great to see. There was a suspension rope bridge over a gorge nearby, which is definitely worth a visit. Sturdy footwear is essential.
