Review

The Baltic Sea offers many great beaches, sea bridges and lighthouses. Unlike the North Sea, it is not as rough and windy. There are also no high and low tides, making it much easier for children to go swimming. Cities like Kiel, Lübeck and Flensburg have beautiful city centres for walking and eating. Of course, fresh fish is also a must on the coast. In summer it can get very crowded in some places. Great recreational area in the north of Germany.

Highligts

Great beaches, impressive sea bridges, especially at sunrise and sunset, beautiful old lighthouses and swimming in the Baltic Sea resorts

Hidden gems

Beautiful old towns that invite you to stroll around and of course eat delicious fresh fish

Destination recommendation

Short journey, many attractive places and not as rough as the North Sea

Pros

Great beaches to go for a walk or play in the sand, e.g. Timmendorf or Scharbeuz

Impressive piers like in Boltenhagen or Zingst

Cons

Not always good weather

Very full in high season

The Baltic Sea is undoubtedly one of the most breathtaking destinations I have ever experienced. From its endless golden sandy beaches to its picturesque coastal towns, the Baltic Sea radiates an irresistible beauty that enchants every visitor. The coastline of the Baltic Sea offers a variety of activities for every taste. Whether you are into water sports such as sailing, windsurfing or kitesurfing or simply want to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the beach, the Baltic Sea has something for everyone. The Baltic Sea is perfect for swimming. But you can also chill out on the beach and unwind. There is also plenty of culinary delights on offer. There are many great restaurants with delicious food to discover on the Baltic Sea.

The Baltic Sea offers picturesque coastlines, clean water and a variety of activities. The beaches are perfect for relaxing, sailing and water sports. Unique coastal towns such as Timmendorfer Strand or islands such as Rügen entice visitors with their charm and, above all, relaxation. Occasional cool weather and the prices in some places could be a disadvantage, however.

Highligts

Rügen, Timmendorf beach

Hidden gems

Ostseebad Grömitz, beach promenade Timmendorfer Strand

Destination recommendation

Many different wonderful places and towns with fantastic beaches.

Pros

Many beautiful beach promenades

The Baltic Sea stretches extremely far along the northern border of Germany and has become very popular in recent years, especially due to Corona. In my opinion, this is absolutely justified. The water has a great temperature and a good healthy salt content and you can benefit from a variety of beautiful different beaches along the coast. In my opinion, the special thing about the German Baltic Sea coast is all the seaside resorts that really make a holiday complete.

Highligts

The various spa towns along the coast are always among the highlights, with their unique culture making every visit unique

Hidden gems

The cliffs are definitely an insider attraction, walks along them are always unique and you usually don't meet anyone else

Destination recommendation

Great opportunity to get to know Germany better and save money and emissions on your summer holiday

Pros

Beaches

Water

Cons

Sometimes algae in the sea

Jellyfish

Review

I'm really enthusiastic about the Baltic Sea, I normally go to the Mediterranean. But here I was really surprised by the white beaches and clear water. In combination with the forest and cliffs, it's simply something special. However, because of the German weather, I only go on short trips.

Highligts

Wonderful beaches with crystal clear water. National parks and cliffs. Great restaurants with good fish dishes. Lots of nature and animals.

Hidden gems

Rügen is simply the most beautiful island which really has everything to offer. Nature for hiking, beautiful beaches for swimming. Everyone will find a quiet spot here.

Destination recommendation

Lots of variety, really nice with a dog as there are many very empty beaches even in summer.

Pros

Great beaches

Lots of nature

Cons

No weather guarantee

Unforgettable Baltic Sea Holidays in Germany in Holiday Rentals Baltic Sea

For those people, who need action in their holidays, there is for example the Hansa Park, an adventure park, which is directly located on the Sea. Also shopping is possible during your Baltic Sea holidays: Kiel and Lübeck will offer great shoppping areas.

Beach holidays on the Baltic Sea

The Baltic seacoast of Germany is a popular holiday destination for summer beach holidays. The calm waters of the Baltic warm up to wonderfully refreshing temperatures in summer, perfect for swimming, fishing, and any other number of water sports. The sunsets overlooking the Baltic Sea are simply unforgettable - be sure to catch a few from the terrace of your Baltic Sea holiday home during your holidays! Along the Baltic coastline, you'll find charming small villages in mostly rural settings. These villages reflect the easy-going way of life of the areas along the Baltic Sea. The holiday homes here also reflect this attitude: cosy, idyllic, and charming. The Sea has shaped the history of this region, from its cuisine, which features primarily fish and seafood, to its customs.

Don't miss to visit the most popular cities - During your stay on the Baltic Sea

The large cities along the Baltic Sea coast in Germany, Kiel, Lübeck, and Rostock, were centered around ship-building and sea-trade. Be sure to visit the UNESCO World Heritage city of Lübeck during your Baltic Sea holidays, where history permeates ever step. The Brick Gothic style of architecture is distinct to the Baltic Sea area and characterises the buildings of the cities and villages here. It is also not uncommon to see a thatched roof house - maybe even your holiday home. Another lovely village on the Baltic Sea is Timmendorf, where you'll find attractive holiday homes on the Baltic Sea, too. This place is a little more exclusive with high-priced bars and restaurants, but the beach there is amazing. The Baltic Sea is great for any sort of water sport - you can find plenty of opportunities to go water-skiing, wake-boarding, wind-surfing, jet-skiing, scuba diving, and boating. After so much excitement, you'll be happy to return to your Baltic Sea holiday home to relax and enjoy the warm evenings during your Baltic Sea holidays in Germany.

There is so much more to see in Europe! If you already have been on the Baltic Sea, you should spend your summer holidays here:

  • The beach is some hours away, but shopping is nearby - Central Portugal Holidays
  • Also Sorlandet Villas are a great destination for summer holidays
  • Apartments Zealand are a good starting point for beach holidays on the North Sea
  • For those, who love a warm climate - Vacations on Malta
  • First a city-trip to Budapest, later on relaxing on Lake Balaton
