Ariege is a French department in the Midi-Pyrenees region in south west France. The department was named after the river so there's no wonder that there are an abundance of natural parks close to Ariege accommodation. Situated in the west of the region is the Natural Regional Park of the Pyrenees-Ariegoises, while towards the east is the Orlu Valley Natural Reserve where you can visit the animal park if you're on a family holiday. The Dent d'Orlu, a granite summit, can also be reached in this nature reserve and is accessible by a footpath, as well as visiting the quaint villages and the observatory while you're taking a day trip from Ariege accommodation.
The towns which surround holiday homes Ariege are unspoiled and traditional, which is proved by Camon: One of the 'most beautiful villages in France'. Foix is the capital of the department and is a sweet market town which is overlooked by a medieval castle and the town of Pamiers is also a recommended visit which has a cathedral and medieval towers to see. For a relaxing holiday at holiday homes Ariege, the town Ax-Les-Thermes is a lovely spa town where you can chill out. It doubles up as a sports destination for active visitors, though, as it's part of the Ax-3-Domaines ski resort in winter. Ariege accommodation makes a great base from which to travel from, for example by visiting the Midi-Pyrenees department, Tarn or the surrounding departments Haute-Garonne, Aude and Pyrenees Orientales, as well as even nipping across the border to Spain and Andorra in the south.
