If you're interested in checking out some other Mediterranean destinations or you enjoyed a previous stay in an Uzès holiday home, here are some other suggestions:  The southern Italian town of Sorrento. The seaside town of Javea, Spain. The popular tourist destination of Nerja, Spain. Uzès' rich and deep history has attracted tourists for decades and many tours are available around the city which will take you to historical sites such as cathedrals and palaces. The Saint-Théodorit cathedral and Duché Palace, for example, have played important roles in Uzès' past. The remains of an old Roman aqueduct are also visible at the River Alzon, close to Uzès' town center. The town was also a protestant stronghold during the wars of religion. Be sure not to forget to visit Uzès' old town either, as it is full of preserved buildings that are still used as homes and shops to this day. Its winding streets are reminiscent of those in old Italian towns and villages. If you have an interest in history and beautiful sites, holiday rentals in Uzès come highly recommended. If you are travelling with children or just happen to have a sweet tooth, the Haribo factory in Uzès is definitely worth visiting, with its selection of every variety available and some interesting exhibits on how these much loved sweets are manufactured. Uzes is a great destination if you want to avoid the sometimes large crowds of many of the popular destinations in South France. However, if this doesn't bother you as much, consider visiting nearby Montpellier or Perpignan on the border with Spain.
