Nice is a beautiful city on the Côte d'Azur in France. The old town with its narrow streets, colourful buildings and quaint restaurants is the perfect place to experience the local flair. A long walk along the Promenade des Anglais is an absolute must if you are already right on the Mediterranean. You should also take the time to try one of the local wines. There are plenty of options here, especially in the old town.
Highligts
The Promenade des Anglais in Nice is the absolute highlight. A kilometre-long coastline directly on the Mediterranean with beautiful blue water, many beaches and restaurants. Perfect for a long walk.
Hidden gems
The Colline du Château hill in the heart of the city has a fantastic view of the remains of an old castle. The perfect place for a short break.
Destination recommendation
Nice is highly recommended for a beach holiday or a long weekend.

A very beautiful city that has a lot to offer. Sights such as the Phoenix Park or the Saint Nicolas de Nice Cathedral or the Colline du Château. The harbour is also very interesting, as you can see many yachts belonging to the super-rich, but the beaches are also very beautiful and you can cool off a bit in the warm weather. I myself went out to eat at La Vigna restaurant, which was delicious.

Nice is probably the most beautiful holiday destination imaginable. In my experience, one of the absolute highlights was Nice Cathedral. Visiting it is a must for every culture lover. My personal insider tip is definitely a relaxed walk along the coast at sunset. The atmosphere here is simply unique. There are plenty of inviting places to eat and drink in Nice. Recommendation.

Head to Nice to soak up the essence of southern France - Book your Nice Accommodation
Its its pleasant climate have seen artists flock to Nice's apartments over the years, while it welcomes something in the region of four million tourists each year, second only to Paris in terms of volume of visitors in France. While many of the town's beaches are a little too pebbly for some, there are also private, more sandy beaches available for use for a fee. Many of these include either imported sand or hessian carpets covering the pebbles and waiter service on the beach. If you cannot afford that, or find it all a little off-putting, then head to the public beaches like La Reserve. For those who love to spend their holidays in luxury, Nice is a great destination.
Taste the special cuisine and stay in exclusive bars in Nice
There are always plenty of terrace cafes where you can relax after a hard day's enjoying yourself in Nice and being in France, there are plenty of places to taste the local vinyards, many of which are now produced exclusively using organic methods. A local culinary speciality which is worth tasting is 'socca', a kind of pancake, similar to a crepe but with batter made from ground chickpea flour. This is a real signature dish of the city and pairs perfectly with a pitcher of local wine. The Niçoise Salad is another local speciality worth trying and it is particularly shines during warm evenings when you don’t want to feel bloated after your evening meal.

On the road in Nice
The best first impression of Nice you get when you approach the city center on the Promenade des Anglais. On the waterfront promenade, it's a case of see and be seen. On the seaside, the promenade is lined with white pebble beaches.
Again, residential buildings, prestigious hotels and magnificent palaces in the style of the Belle É poque line up opposite. On the Quais des États-Unis and de la Douane, you walk at the foot of the castle hill and pass the port of Nice, where the ferries to Corsica dock.
You can go down the back side of the mountain or the old town by streetcar. It stops near the important sights of Nice. In the downtown area, it runs on its own grass strip for stretches and offers nice views of the city's green spaces.
The spacious promenade Promenade des Anglais runs along the beach of Nice for 7km across the city. Luxurious hotels and magnificent Art Nouveau buildings exude exclusivity over the promenade, which beckons you to relax under palm trees along the way.
A limestone rock lies between the old town and the port of Nice. The castle hill, which also houses a spacious cemetery, offers you a wide panorama over the city and its coast.
