I flew to Split in August and was very impressed by the city. There is a bus from the airport that goes directly to the city centre. There are several hotels and holiday flats there, but I would book them in advance. Personally, I liked the stone houses in the old town and the old churches best. There are several small beaches where you can swim. For a proper beach day, however, I would recommend travelling a little further away. There are very beautiful natural beaches outside the city.

Highligts

The waterfront promenade is very nice for a stroll. The Peristyle town square is a must-see. The Domnius Cathedral looks beautiful. The Golden Gate is a wonderful place to take photos.

Hidden gems

Eating and drinking in the city centre is a little cheaper than right by the water. There is a great fruit market with fresh fruit in the city centre.

Destination recommendation

I would recommend the destination as there are many sights and swimming opportunities.

Pros

There are many sights to see.

The city is very clean.

Cons

There is a lot of congestion in the city as there are always lots of cars on the road.

The journey to the airport from Munich to Split went very smoothly and we felt like we were on holiday. We headed straight to the nearest beach and were very pleasantly surprised at how clean the sea was. There is everything from small local bakeries to nice restaurants. I can really only recommend it.

The city of Split is very beautiful and we were able to move around on foot the whole time. Unfortunately, what was very annoying was that it was extremely crowded and it was really slow to get around in the narrow streets. The prices were also very high, which was really annoying. When we drove into the city, we had to spend a long time looking for parking spaces. Apart from that, the city is really beautiful and we felt very comfortable at the harbour.

My girlfriend and I visited the city because we like to visit ancient cities (especially those with a Roman or Greek influence). There was a lot to see in Split, which made us very happy. We ate a kebab and cevapcici at My-Kebab: The staff were very nice and the food was good and the price was also quite good. Afterwards we had an ice cream at Verde Gelato: The owner was very nice and made very big scoops (One scoop was as big as 2 scoops elsewhere). What we didn't like so much: The city is very touristy and sometimes very crowded. As a result, the prices are sometimes very high in some places. Overall, the city is recommended.

Highligts

We visited the city centre (Roman style is very interesting for us). We enjoyed a romantic dinner and then went for a walk along the harbour. The weather was very good.

My impression of Split is very positive, as the summer months are ideal for a summer holiday. The local food can be enjoyed near the beach and you can go hiking outside the city centre. The city centre offers shopping opportunities. However, I didn't notice many cultural attractions during my trip, which is not a bad thing considering that you can go on holiday with your friends at a reasonable price

Highligts

One highlight is the sea, where you can go snorkelling. Split has a beautiful city centre with local and international shops. Travel guides can take you into the surrounding mountainous landscape. Local restaurants are often not touristy if you search for them on the internet.

Hidden gems

An insider tip is the Cevap House, where you can find authentic Croatian dishes. Another insider tip is to buy a snorkelling set in the supermarket for around 10 euros to watch fish and other sea creatures in the sea.

Destination recommendation

Split is ideal for a holiday with friends (opportunities to party), but also for family holidays, as there are family-friendly and cultural opportunities to spend time.

Pros

A clean, light blue sea

Friendly locals who help you get to know the culture better

Cons

It is difficult to get around without a car, as public transport is not frequent

You can't go to the beach without beach shoes, as the pebbles form a beach there

Split-Dalmatia holiday rentals – A great place to take a relaxing holiday

From mountain ranges to sandy beaches and river rapids to calm lagoons, Split-Dalmatia holiday rentals can help you discover the miles of unexplored coast land bubbling with diverse and bright flora and fauna.

Most famously, perhaps, is the Brela Stone, which sits vastly and contemplatively a few metres from the shores of Punta Rata beach. There are many legends surrounding the origins of the stone - the most famous is that it was unscrewed from the mainland cliffs during an earthquake and placed there by an unknown force, but the fact it lives on the beach that Forbes ranked #1 in Europe is reason alone to want to experience it yourself. Split-Dalmatia holiday rentals can give you the perfect place to stay during your exploration of this beautiful geography.

During a stay with holiday apartments Split-Dalmatia, you could also visit the Blue Cave. It can be found on the eastern side of the island Bisevo, and is best visited during the day to see the enchanting spectrum created by the sunlight. The water surface turns a vibrant blue while the deeper parts shimmer with a silvery glow as the light glitters in through one of two apertures in the cave walls. The passage is deep enough to paddle a boat through, and ultimate tranquillity is always within easy reach of your holiday apartments Split-Dalmatia, giving you a relaxing and unique break. It would also be a shame to miss out on visiting the second largest city in Croatia, Split, while you're on your holiday in Split-Dalmatia holiday rentals as there's so much to see there. And why not take a trip over to the Dalmatian Islands and the islands in Southern Dalmatia to experience a true Mediterranean retreat on the islands which have been described as the new Riviera.
