Many archaeological finds and historical artefacts are on display in the town's Historical and Ethnographic Museums. Of particular interest in the Historical Museum are a collection of vintage photographs showing the town in the early 1900s. The most important building open to visitors in the city, is the Palace of Balchik, built in the early 20th century. This elegant seafront palace was the former summer residence of the Romanian Queen Maria Alexandrina Victoria de Edinburgh. Beautiful botanical gardens surround it making it a pleasant place to spend a few hours or have a picnic.
