We were on a round trip and stopped off in Bruges. The typical phrase 'See Bruges... And die' is well known. And it's such a great little city, to die for! The architecture is unique and a canal tour is an absolute must! A stop at one of the many chocolate shops is also a must and you simply have to try a waffle on a stick with Belgian chocolate! The castle square is also worth a visit. On a positive note, the streets in Bruges are so small and narrow that cars are not allowed to drive through. As we travelled by bus, I can't comment on the parking situation.

Highligts

In my opinion, it's a beautiful city, especially the historic city centre. As it was my first time in Bruges, I took a boat trip through the city to get a better overview, which I can only recommend to anyone. My favourite sight was the famous photo motif Rozenhoedkaai, which is a must-see. But the city doesn't just have something to offer architecturally, it also has plenty of culinary delights - my favourite restaurant was Tête Pressée. So you could say that the city is definitely worth a visit!

So, if you like city breaks, you'll love Bruges. It's one of the most beautiful cities I've ever visited. As someone with a sweet tooth, I love good chocolate and Bruges has the tastiest ever. In addition, the entire city centre is antique and offers so many great photo opportunities. Of course, it's a bit more expensive and, above all, slightly overcrowded, but that's okay. If you want to try typical Belgian food, I would recommend the Grote Markt, where you can find all kinds of culinary specialities.

Holiday apartments Bruges - explore this fascinating city!

Found in the province of West Flanders, Bruges is one of Belgium's most loved cities. As far as popular tourist destinations go, Bruges is right at the top of the list, offering a unique blend of history, culture, tourist attractions and some wonderful shopping opportunities for you to enjoy.

Holiday apartments in beautiful Bruges

Some of the holiday rentals in Bruges lie in old buildings. If you are looking for some historical charm, choose to stay in such homes. Once you have unpacked and settled down in your apartment, you can set off for some fun and sightseeing. You can start your journey by mapping out a trip through the city centre and taking in buildings, such as the 13th century belfry or the famous Church of Our Lady. This church features the second tallest brickwork tower in the world but a visit inside this grand building will reveal the magnificent sculpture of the Madonna and Child. Some other sights that you can take in when you stay in Bruges are canals, churches, markets and cycling trails. As far as facilities go, the holiday rentals Bruges has on offer cater to your needs by providing homes with facilities like swimming pools, hot tubs or gardens and the beautiful city centre has even been marked as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Staying in Bruges gives you a good opportunity to visit museums, such as the Bruges Museum and Groeninge Museum which are unique for their collections of art. You will always find cultural events on offer, no matter the time of year that you visit this great city. Much of the city is very old, with some buildings dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries and even earlier but to see a truly beautiful historic building, visit the Beguinage, which dates back to 1245. One speciality that Bruges offers is Chocolate, so find some time here to sample the world famous Belgian produce. A tasting session is a great way to spend the afternoon with that special someone and will allow you to try the best on offer.

Romantic days out with that special someone

Bruges is shaped by its canals and a canal trip will give you a great insight into the city and give your feet some rest. Many of our holiday apartments are even located by the canals, offering you a nice place to relax on your doorstep. If you enjoyed the canals and architecture of Bruges, why not visit another Benelux country? The Netherlands are a great place to visit from Bruges and you could even visit the seaside resort of Cadzand in Zealand if you want a relaxing seaside retreat. Finally, Prague is a lovely historical city that is perfect if you enjoy learning about the past and exploring culture.

If you are looking for a really romantic day-out, Loppem Caste just outside the city is a stunning neo-gothic stately home with extensive gardens. Embark on a horse and carriage trip through the city centre and finish your afternoon up with one of Belgium’s dark or white beers, of which there are plenty to try. One of the reasons that Bruges is so loved for romantic trips is the high quality of dining establishments here, which takes cues from French and Dutch culture alongside a tendency to serve generous portions. Stoverij is a hearty beef casserole cooked in beer and Mussels are another favourite, as is all seafood in Belgium. As the sun sets, sophisticated Cocktail bars are the place to be where you can reminisce over old times and toast to the future alike. Bruges is a beautiful city that was practically made for romantic city breaks. Stay in one of the Bruges Apartments for a truly unforgettable stay and take home some fond memories of this classy city with that special someone.
