My week in Brussels was a fascinating experience. I was particularly impressed by the impressive architecture of the Atomium and the historical splendour of the Grand-Place. It was really beautiful. The chocolate tasting in the cosy alleyways and the local bistros, especially the moules-frites, are also highly recommended. An unexpected highlight was the informative Comic Book Museum. Incidentally, this is also suitable for people who never read comics. But perhaps I should have avoided the crowded area around Manneken Pis. The authentic waffles from Maison Dandoy and the delicious gaufres from the street stalls were great again. It was annoying to only talk to shopkeepers or locals, as they often didn't speak English. Overall, however, it was an unforgettable week. Next time I would try to avoid the tourist hotspots at peak times and spend more time in the hidden corners of the city, but I would definitely repeat this week.

Highligts

Travel highlights were: the Atomium, the Grand Place and the delicious chocolate that you can buy everywhere. Lots of delicious restaurants and sights.

Hidden gems

The Comic Book Museum. Super interesting. Not just for comic lovers.

Destination recommendation

Because Brussels has very tasty restaurants and beautiful sights.

Pros

Delicious food

Beautiful sights

Cons

Difficult to communicate because many do not speak English.

We stayed in Brussels for 4 days in February in a very nice 5* hotel "Amigo", which is highly recommended. The hotel was in a great location and only a 2-minute walk from the market square. The journey was also very pleasant. It was a pleasant 10-minute walk from the railway station. It's definitely worth visiting the Grand-Place, the Atomium, the Arc de Triomphe and if you're interested in churches, there's plenty to do. On the second day we were on the Ferris wheel, from there we had a marvellous view over the whole city. A special highlight was the "Illusion Brussels" museum, where our little daughter had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, it wasn't so easy to find a few playgrounds for the little one. For fish lovers, the fish market is worth a visit. There are various restaurants there, where I ate a lobster for the first time for a really small price. I can really recommend everyone to visit this city. I recommend spending at least 3 days there and looking for accommodation near the Grand-Place. Then you have good public transport connections, almost all the sights are within walking distance and it's easy to get there and back.

Highligts

Our biggest highlight was the old town centre with its beautiful market square. Not far from this was the small landmark of Brussels. The Manneken Pis. If you get hungry, there is something for every culinary taste.

Hidden gems

Not only the Manneken Pis is represented in Brussels, there is also the Jeanneke Pis (more beautiful fountain) and the Peeing Dog. Brussels, the comic capital, offers a lot of façade art, with great works of art on the walls of buildings all over the city.

Destination recommendation

A very beautiful old town that is free of traffic and invites you to stroll around with many sights and great restaurants.

Pros

Great old town

Many sights

Cons

Europaviertel and Atomium unfortunately a bit out of town

A wonderful city, with exciting architecture and history. The city is very open, friendly and multicultural. The European Quarter is also exciting for those interested in politics. In my opinion, good sights are the Mini Europa, St Michael's Cathedral and the Royal Palace. A delicious restaurant was le chou de Bruxelles. All in all, a city that is well worth a visit.

My girlfriend and I were in Brussels last year in March. It really is a city worth seeing. We arrived there by train and explored the city on foot. We visited various churches and the EU Parliament. The Parliament is a must-see. The tour of the EU Parliament was very interesting. We also ate delicious chips and went to a really nice café afterwards!

I have to admit that there are definitely some nice places to visit in Brussels, such as the Grand Place, the Atomium, the beer pubs and the Comic Strip Museum or the European Quarter, which is quite impressive. But in the conventional city it is rather noisy and dirty. One thing to watch out for is not to eat at the typical tourist places, as they are usually overpriced. In my opinion, Yamayu Santatsu is a nice restaurant. To summarise, Brussels is worth a visit, but I couldn't imagine living there.
