Overall, I am very satisfied with my almost month-long trip to Salzburg. The city really has everything to offer. I was particularly impressed by the old town with a view of the castle. If you pick the right places, you can get away with it quite cheaply. Recommendation!

Highligts

Salzburg's old town is really beautiful. You have a great view of the castle. Everything is easily accessible by bus.

Hidden gems

Every destination can be reached quickly and easily by city bus. In some bars you can only pay with cash.

Destination recommendation

Great mix of old town and Austrian culture.

Pros

Old Town

Everything you need is there

Cons

Gives expensive seats

Not so nice corners

For me, the whole travelling experience of the city of Salzburg was something special. There is something for everyone. My favourite thing by far was the visit to Hangar 7. A great excursion destination that I can only rate positively. I ate at the Bärenwirt and in my opinion it was very good and extremely delicious. Another great aspect of travelling is the transport, which works without any problems. Public transport is very easy to plan. The only thing I would avoid on my next trip is the booking, which I would finalise a little earlier next time. All in all, it was a great holiday that I can only recommend.

Highligts

A great activity was the Red Bull Arena, where we were able to attend an FC Salzburg match. Hangar 7 was also a great excursion, with fantastic exhibitions.

Hidden gems

My insider tip is Hangar 7, which in my opinion is more than just recommendable. A great destination for a day out.

Destination recommendation

There is something for everyone, for sports enthusiasts as well as for those interested in technology.

Pros

Extensive range

Friendly locals

Cons

Too much on offer for a few days' holiday

Spontaneous booking, difficult possible

Salzburg is a family-friendly city with enriching culture and many excursion options in the surrounding area. All the main sights in the city centre are within easy walking distance. If you are travelling by car, you should park outside and either walk or take public transport to the city centre. Highlights for families include the fortress and Mozart's birthplace. There are great cafés everywhere, with a variety of excellent culinary delights. Regional food of the highest quality rounds off the palate and the atmosphere both at lunchtime and in the evening.

Highligts

Salzburg Old Town, Linzer Gasse, Hohensalzburg Fortress

Hidden gems

Eis Eisl and the best coffee in town at 220°

Destination recommendation

Enriching impressions and extremely friendly people

My travelling experience was short but great. I gained a great impression of Salzburg and was able to develop culturally by visiting the opera (which I really enjoyed). The Sacher restaurant was very impressive and great as it takes you back in time. I ate at Café Mozart and enjoyed a punch. It was easy to get around on foot, even though the weather was rather bad at the time. However, you didn't have to rely on public transport. On my next trip, I would avoid coming in autumn/winter so that the weather is nice and you don't have to walk in the rain and wind.

Highligts

Great cafés, lots of culture and beautiful views. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do too much due to the weather, but that makes it more worthwhile in summer!

Hidden gems

Viral food spots (Mozart Café, Hoel Sacher)

Destination recommendation

It is unique and beautiful, with lots of activities

Pros

Delicious food

Lots of culture

Cons

I was accommodated in the centre of Salzburg. It was easy to reach everything there by public transport. We only stood at a stop for more than 15 minutes. We ate at a wide variety of local restaurants. There was everything from typical Austrian cuisine to Italian. And if I had a little more time, I bought a coffee directly at the station. The main railway station is also very clean. The highlight was definitely the Hohensalzburg and the Haus der Natur. So if you're only spending a week in Salzburg, you shouldn't miss out on these two destinations. All in all, I would visit Salzburg again and plan my holiday in exactly the same way as before.

Highligts

I would definitely mention the Haus der Natur in Salzburg as a travel highlight. It is a beautiful museum for young and old. It is lovingly designed and shows nature from all its most exciting sides. From dinosaurs to the world of water, everything is there.

Hidden gems

If you are in Salzburg, you definitely have to visit the Hohensalzburg. No matter which restaurant you ask about activities, the Hohensalzburg is always mentioned.

Destination recommendation

I would recommend it to anyone, as there is something to experience for all ages. The culture and the city leave nothing to be desired. From modern buildings to castles, this city has everything you need.

Pros

Friendly people

Large selection of restaurants

Cons

Some corners are very crowded
