South Tyrol Holiday Homes & Ski Apartments South Tyrol

The Province of Bolzano-Bozen, also known as South Tyrol, is the northernmost province of Italy. Historically, this Alpine province was a part of the Austro-Hungarian county of Tyrol before becoming a part of Italy in the early years of last century. To this day, many Tyrolians speak the German languages, and you'll find during your South Tyrol holidays that many street signs are written in German as well as Italian. Indeed, South Tyrol feels more like Austria than Italy, and seems a world apart from other regions of Italy.

The most striking characteristic that visitors on holiday in South Tyrol will notice are the mountain vistas. Nestled high in the Alps, South Tyrol is home to the Ortler mountain, highest in the Eastern Alps, and the mighty Dolomites, whose craggy mountaintops will leave South Tyrol visitors speechless. Of course all these mountains make for some truly excellent skiing – South Tyrol draws ski and snowboard enthusiasts on holiday from around the world. Here they find an array of South Tyrol holiday homes, holiday rental apartments South Tyrol, and slopeside ski chalets South Tyrol that are the perfect accommodation for their South Tyrol ski holidays. It is no surprise that many of Italy's Olympic winter sports athletes hail from South Tyrol.

But South Tyrol isn't only fun during the winter. Throughout the year, hikers flock to South Tyrol holiday homes and from there take to the hills of South Tyrol, each hoping to return home from their holidays and proudly announce how many peaks they reached.

Castle enthusiasts and romantics will be happy to learn that South Tyrol is home to almost 100 castles , eight of these alone can be found in the city of Bolzano. Bolzano is also home to the South Tyrol Museum of Archaelogy, which houses the famous mummy Ötzi the Iceman.

South Tyrol also offers myriad opportunities to spend your holidays in South Tyrol fishing, mountain climbing, cycling, swimming in clear mountain lakes, enjoying a horseback ride on a Haflinger pony over the hills, and simply relaxing and enjoying the unique charm of South Tyrol. Book of one South Tyrol's charming self catering cottages South Tyrol, holiday homes South Tyrol, rental apartments South Tyrol, or ski chalets South Tyrol and find out for yourself!
