The 300 year old stone house is situated on a hillside above the center of Chovar, the old, picturesque village of Arab origin in the province of Castellon in eastern Spain on the Costa Azahar. On a very quiet, winding street with no through traffic, this house stands in a row of houses above the church square, which can also be used as a parking lot.
The roof terrace, which is hidden from view, offers a wonderful view (360 °) over the roofs of Chovar, the vegetable gardens and the olive and almond-tree-lined hills of the Sierra de Espadan (nature reserve).
The nearest small town, Segorbe ( with a History of more than 2000 years) lies approximately 18 km away, it is 45km to Valencia and 28 km to the sea.
The village itself offers good shopping facilities such as butchers, bakeries, and a small fruit, vegetables and fish and grocery store. There is a market day and 3 times weekly fresh fish in the village as well as a restaurant and two bars.
The two-store house with two small balconies and a total floor space of approximately 140m², suitable for max. 6 people.
The house has a small garden with a tiled patio and a brick barbecue is ideal for a leisurely stay. Likewise, of course, the sunny roof terrace has a panoramic view over the village and the landscape of Chovar.
The furniture is simple: the house is partly furnished with restored antique Spanish furniture.

Chovar in the village there is a nice, well maintained swimming pool with separate children's pool, sunbathing area and restaurant. Even the seaside resorts are very well suited for children since most of the beaches go gently into the sea and there is no current.
The promenades are created and regularly cleaned. The beaches are equipped with showers and playing equipment for children. Recommended beaches nearby are Moncofar, Xilches, Nules, Canet, Burriana and Sagunto.
The environment of Chovar perfect for walking and hiking (declared and marked hiking trails). The bar in Chovar near Castellon is also a popular meeting place on the weekend for cycling in the area.
Tourist attractions are the large stalactite cave in Valle de Uxo with underground, with boats passable river, Valencia's old town, museums and beaches (the third largest city in Spain), Albufeira (one crossed by numerous canals rice growing area), Sagunto with the "juderia", the medieval Jewish district, and the ancient fortress with a large amphitheater (UNESCO world heritage), the summer scene is of important cultural events with international appeal.
Even in the hinterland are numerous attractions to explore, eg medieval towns and castles, some of Arab origin (eg, Mora de Rubielos, Rubielos de Mora, Morella), gorgeous swimming under waterfalls, dams (water) etc.

If not already done by the "House Keeper":
Main fuse switch is next to the entrance door. For water in the main wash basin and the bathroom, turn the two taps on the copper pipe in the garden. The gas supply is activated by pushing the black bottom of the connector until it is firmly down. Only use the bed with bed linen (on the first floor it's in the wall cabinet, and on the 2nd floor it's in the chest).
during the stay:
Marisabel (Avenida del Sol, the last Charlet at the end of the street) has the spare key and can help with technical problems (speaks Spanish only)
Lemon tree and other plants in the garden (with hose) should be watered every evening,
when it rains please take the table, chairs, sunbeds, umbrellas, pans, cooking gas ring and other delicate utensils from the garden and the roof terrace (except table on the roof)
Please do not slide the furniture on the roof terrace lift it. The floor covering - protective film - is very sensitive.
Do not clean the paella pans with washing-up liquid but with soap (above the sink): clean and then leave to dry,
After using the butane gas bottles for the stove and heating appliances, please secure the ring hook back above the closure.
Change empty gas bottles on Saturday between 8 and 9am. Leave the empty bottles visible in front of the door in the morning, and they will be refilled by a gas salesman for about €12((not included). Then please make sure that the connection is secure on top of the bottle when using.
Household and kitchen door to the garden should always be kept closed: cats and mice can get into the house otherwise!
Leave the lid on the garbage can in the kitchen. Bring tied full bags to the nearest container after sundown. Garbage is collected every evening.
All utensils including furniture from the garden and the terrace should be tidied away (except table on the roof terrace), defrost the refrigerator and leave it the refrigerator and freezer door open.
Dispose unopened food.
Close all gas bottles and separate them from connections.
The outer doors to the roof terrace and the garden should be closed and the keys should be left on the stairs or at the sink.
Leave bedding in the chest or the closet and put linen at the washing machine
Close all windows and shutters, leave the doors open for air circulation,
Lock the house and give the keys and spare keys with Marisabel.
And finally: Even if you do not speak Spanish, greet the locals with "Hola" (Hello) - "Buenos dias" (good day) - Buenas tardes (good afternoon) - "Buenas noches" (Good night)!
