And it's not hard to see why, with art, culture, castles, the great outdoors, and even spas, it is a great place to get away and rediscover the world.
Bavaria is a state of Germany in the South East, forming roughly 20% of the entire country. It's capital is Munich, which is home to the famous Oktoberfest. A great outdoor activity is to visit the Englischer Garten, which is much bigger than Central Park in New York. Biking tours are available. The Schloss Nymphenburg used to be the summer residence for royalty, and is now a park. Car lovers will enjoy the BMW museum, where visitors can drive simulation cars.
Also popular are the Bavarian Alps, and in upper Bavaria tourists can see the highest peak in Germany, the Zugspitze. Skiiers and snowboarders can find Bavaria apartments in places close to great slopes. Großer Arber is in the Bavarian Forest and has been called the "Mont Blanc" of Germany. Inzell is located in a valley and is great for cross-country skiing and speed skating. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen a tour is available of the famous Olympic ski jump.
Bavaria also is home to crystal-clear lakes and waterfalls. The Fünf-Seen-Land (Five Lakes Region) is a great place for watersports. Lake Spitzingsee is the highest lake in Germany. The Röthbach waterfall is the highest in Germany, and the Kuhflucht waterfall in Farchant is also a breath-taking sight.
Bavaria accommodation is also available in other cities. Passau is located in central Bavaria and here three rivers come together- the Danube, Ilz, and Inn- and river tours are available. The city has a Baroque Italian style to it, and Bavaria apartments are quite stylish and comfortable. Self-catering Bavaria accommodation is available for traveler's who want to do their own exploring.
