Island Hvar Apartments, Travel and Accommodation Hvar

The island Hvar is distinguished as one of the most richly historical islands off the Dalmatian coast of Croatia. Hvar accommodation is varied with sea views, self catering villas with pools and Hvar apartments. The main city Stari Grad dates back to 400 years B.C. and gracefully hosted Venice’s navy as an Adriatic outpost during the height of the Renaissance. This brought with it a cultural richness that is evident to visitors to this day. Yet strangely, constant rebuilding seems to have done Hvar accommodation a good turn. It’s low-storied buildings of white adobe shine brilliantly for tourists ferrying in, and it's well worn yet smooth and brilliant marble-made cobblestones breathe history and culture at every step.

Pacing through this relic of the past, the intrepid traveler will be delighted to hear an occasional sound of the cello being played, as many of Hvar’s institutions offer intensive music lessons during the summer to locals and holiday makers – and some throughout the year. The teacher will give a demonstration and the students set in on their string instruments, the Hvar pedestrian will do best to move on.

Discover sanctuary in the St. Stephens Cathedral, which was begun during the period of occupation by the Venetian Navy. Having taken a couple of centuries to complete, it is a splendid mixture of both Baroque and Renaissance styles, great for some cultural history to share after your holiday.

A great view point can be found at the Spanish Fortress, or “Citadel”, which sports amazing panoramic views and a prime lookout over the Harbour, among the other important attractions on Hvar Travel down through the intricately wending Venice-like streets and watch the sunset from the harbour. As night takes over the island, look up to the citadel, which becomes illuminated like a shining beacon upon the hilltop. Shining over all of these attractions, however, are the white sandy beaches which holiday makers find to be among the most spectacular in Croatia. Finding a place to stay near the beach is easy, with many holiday cottages, cheap holiday homes and self catering villas to rent for Hvar travel, if you remember to book ahead!
