On the mainland, there are numerous medieval towns just waiting to be explored. The ancient city of Dubrovnik is one of the mot prominent tourist desinations on the Adriatic. It has a rich in history and a plethora of ancient monuments including some buildings that date back to the 1300s. The city of Zadar is also well worth a look. This district has been populated since prehistoric times and the earliest evidence of human life here comes from the Late Stone Age. This area also is home to four national parks, camping areas and watersporting centres that offer a wide variety of activities. Split, located in the central Dalmatia is steeped in Roman history. It was centred around the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian but despite the ancient architecture, Split is known as being the most modern cities in Dalmatia. Many Dalmatian villas are available in this area as well as in the outside cities.
Some visitors choose the Dalmatia holiday apartments in Zaboric, close to Sibenik. Although a comparably smaller town, the crystal clear Ionian sea makes it the perfect place snorkeling, swimming and sunbathing. The area is also blessed with wonderful scenery and is the perfect place for families. Others, however, prefer Dalmatian villas in Jadrija, the home to many Croatian windsurfing competitions. Despite that, the area is surprising solitary, and great for those who want to take a quiet vacation. The Trogir Riviera is also enchanting, with early Croatian art and Roman ruins, the whole town of Trogir is reminiscent of a museum. If you like Trogir, you should visit Peloponnese in your next holidays. Also similar to the flair of Trogir are some regions located on the Coast of Lisbon. Close to Trogir is Okrug Donji on the island of Ciovo. This is a great place for families with children, the water is shallow, and many Dalmatian holiday apartments are available. Watersporting equipment is also available to rent.
